The guys at Vacation are doing the right thing. The aesthetic is on point, drifting away from the tried and true combination of tile, timber and concrete. Their customer service is neither disingenuous nor pretentious , however, being primed on the corner of Flinders and Exhibition Streets, there is no time for it - especially with density of competition in the neighbourhood.

Coffee is excellent. However take it with a grain of salt as black coffee is my forte. Therefore, my taste buds will not be as sensitive to the milk variants. They do have batch brew filter coffee on tap which is great.

In the Patisserie field, they cover a small selection that satisfies your basic requirements. Their ham and cheese toasted croissant is on point; smoky ham, rounded cheese, crispy exterior with a soft and chewy interior.

This place is amazing! We were visiting Melbourne for a trip where we ended up at Vacation twice. We normally eat at hotel buffets, but this time we didn't have the option. I have issues with lactose so I'm looking for a place with vegan options, but my parents would still like to have something with meat as an option. And Vacation provides exactly that, I really enjoyed the granola that I ate both times and the matcha latte (I think, it's pictured below) and banana peanut butter smoothie were really good as well. The seating arrangement for 3 or more people can get a little funky unless you get the only large table, but that was really the only downside for us. I've consistently chosen Vacation Coffee for my coffee fix during my visits to Melbourne, and without a doubt, it has become my go-to spot for the perfect iced latte.
