⭐️9/10 💰 $$$ ✨ PRO TIP: 5% CASH DISCOUNT (We spent around $1000 for 7 people so after the cash discount it came down to around $150 per person which is quite reasonable) Featured dishes 🍣🥩🍤🍚🍲 - Assorted Sashimi: $62 (x2) - they put 2 servings in one plate so it looks huge - Wagyu Yukke: $28 - Wagyu Tataki: $33 - School Prawns: $19 - Tebasaki Karaage: $24 - Wagyu Steak Don: $55 - Foie Gras Bibambap: $47 - Kobe A5 & Australian M9 Set: $289 - A5 + M9 Shabu Shabu Set: $295 Celebrated my birthday with my family at Wagyu Ya a few weeks ago 🥰 Every time we go Wagyu Ya or Niku Ou we usually order the same dishes, such as the Wagyu Yukke, Wagyu Tataki, Sashimi, School Prawns, Tebasaki Karaage (I know this seems shocking, but these deep-fried chicken wings are SO GOO!!!! I made fun of my friend one time for ordering them and now I must order them every time I go) Another must order is the Foie Gras Bibambap which is so fatty and so good, but we also tried the Wagyu Steak Don and it was really good and I feel like it’s better value since you get a generous portion of perfectly cooked Wagyu Steak. Okay onto the mains, instead of only having Yakiniku BBQ sets we wanted some variety, so we ordered both the A5+M9 BBQ Set and Shabu Shabu Set. We opted for Sukiyaki for the broth for our hotpot set and the set comes with veggies, such as tofu, mushrooms, cabbage and udon noodles. We have a tradition for our birthday that we must eat “birthday noodles” 🍜 as it represents long life and longevity! It was a good idea ordering both the BBQ and Hotpot set since we had a bigger group, so we could try a bit of everything and I feel like my parents like the soupy noodle dishes over just eating meat. The only negative I have from the night was that the service was quite slow, once they had brought our the plates of meat, we waited almost 20 minutes for them to cook for us… but the waiter did apologise to us as they were unexpectedly busy for a Monday night and he was even shocked of how busy they were. Apart from that we still had a great night celebrating my birthday 🤭

If you want the best Japanese and Australian beef bbq in Melbourne, you have to go here. Wednesday night and the place was packed, luckily we had a reservation. With dim lighting and cosy corners, this is the perfect date night place. Our orders were taken immediately and after a couple of recommendations, we settled for the David large beef plate for 2 ($298) along with the A5 beef plate. The waiters help you grill the beef and some cuts were done by them only (so we don't ruin the beautiful meat). But boy oh boy, were we in for a treat. All the cuts of meat have their own flavour and quality. Some we dipped in the delivious sauces that were given but the A5 and M9 were sprinkled just with salt and gold pepper (yes gold pepper!) And it melted in your mouth. Don't think we've ever had beef like this - top quality and simply flavoursome. Cannot recommend this place enough. Even their side dishes (salads and veggies) were made to perfection- we couldn't stop eating it!

Not sure why this has such a high review score. Prices are extremely high (around $100 per person). Apart from the oyster blade meat, the food was so-so at best. A small bowl of truffle rice was $40 and tasted bland. The service is very poor. Appetisers arrived after our mains. After 50 minutes seated, we had menus shoved at us for last orders. Food was slammed down on the table. There was pressure from the start to order quickly and leave quickly. I asked for a skewer and the waitress said that would take 30 minutes to make. So i chose another one, and she said actually those two pages would all take 30 minutes to cook and we didn't have the table for much longer anyway. The restaurant itself is dirty. There were dirty shoes lying next to our table and the waitress was shuffling around in crocs with her feet showing. Honestly, you can get so many great meals in Melbourne with wonderful service for this price - why would you go here?

Random dinner with my partner, however, we was expecting a certain standard as the price wasn't too cheap. Firstly, the waiter was not keen to work. Not welcoming, definitely not smiling. Never ask us for any drinks or give us recommendations. Secondly, food wasn't bad, it was just normal. But for the price tag in the menu, it should be something we would not get it easily in any cheaper Japanese restaurant. Lastly, I saw their staff was putting the flowers into the cocktail without using disposable gloves. Just bare hand, and I saw his hand is touching multiple things for example, his glasses, scratching his armpit, cleaning cloth etc. I told the other staff that he should at least put on gloves while putting the thing into the drinks or food, but her explanation is, he is a new staff.... Not gonna come back for sure.

I've been to this place so many times over years and it was one of my favourite go to place. Recently I've found that the customer service has really gone down and it really, sad to see that. I our last visit last week we've requested for extra water however no one came to refill despite we asked so many times. It is close to impossible to get any staffs attention especially when you are sitting upstairs for the BBQ section, because usually no staffs around. If there is they are just there to bring food to the tables. I found it really rude when they ignore the kids, we could see that they acknowledge that the kids raised their hands to request something however they just looked at the kids and walked away. For the price tags I'd say it's not worth going back if the customer service is not improving.

After deciding we wanted some charcoal BBQ we were ushered upstairs and given one of the special tables at the back. Choosing from the extensive menu took awhile, helped by the friendly staff. The highlight of the evening was the Wagyu Harimi - part of the diaphragm muscle. So tender and deliciously marinated we wolfed it down before any happy snaps were taken. The Kingfish Carpaccio with its crunchy noodles was also memorable. Despite being the last ones, the friendly staff did not hurry us to settle the bill. The special tables we had really created an atmosphere that was very different from the standard seating throughout the restaurant. This place deserves it's high rating and is worth coming back to please the tastebuds again.
