I have just read the one star review posted by customer Kira and am surprised by its substance as it is a mischaracterisation of the events. I witnessed the entire exchange between this customer and the 'rude barista'. What has been omitted from the review is as follows: When the customer received her coffee, she approached the service window, leaned in and said, in a heightened tone to the barista, 'Are you going to apologise?' She said this more than once and said words to the effect that the barista was rude. She then said to the barista, even louder, 'What is your name?'. When the barista declined to provide his name she shouted, 'I have a right to know your name, to write a negative review'. She repeated her request with words to this effect several times. The exchange lasted several minutes, her dog barking throughout the exchange and jumping up on the service window. I observed the owner of the business to then intervene, introduce himself and to apologise to the customer. In response, she stated words to the effect that this apology was insufficient as she wished to receive an apology from the barista for him being rude and she repeated that she wanted his name. There is no reason, legally or morally, why a barista in a private business should have to provide his name to a person, for the sole purpose of that person being able to criticise him in an online review. The conduct of this customer, arguably, exposed the barista to occupational violence and made other customers feel extremely uncomfortable. The incident was handled with professionalism by the barista, his colleague and the owner of the cafe, all of whom remained calm. No person at work should have to experience aggression of this kind from a customer, let alone over the sale of a morning coffee. Congratulations Windsor Deli staff on handling a difficult situation appropriately...

They also make delicious breakfast dishes like the baked eggs and amazing sandwiches like the jerk chicken that was phenomenal - highly recommend a stop here for food, drinks and a chat with their incredible staff 💖

Read moreI was present at the Windsor Deli Cafe today when the below one star review situation occurred. The customer in question was extremely ignorant of her surroundings, and tried twice to collect another person's coffee with her headphones still in, oblivious to the barista's verbal cues.
When the (extremely busy and polite) barista intervened, the customer took personal offence and proceeded to make an elaborate scene, screaming at the staff member and demanding personal details. I have never witnessed such a gross overstep of customer privilege.
If anyone was rude in this interaction, it was the customer, not the delightful barista. Fantastic food, great coffee and a great attitude to...
