Bathurst RSL — Restaurant in Bathurst

I attended Bathurst RSL as a visitor for dinner in a group of 21 people. I was around the middle of the group to order dinner and noticed that those who had ordered after me had been provided their meals and had finished when mine hadn't been served.

When I enquired about my meal with the Bistro Supervisor, I was told that something must have gone wrong.

Not wanting to be left behind and having the rest of the group to move on while I waited for and ate a late, and not yet cooked meal, I asked for a refund. A refund was provided. I then noticed that what I was refunded was less than what I had paid for the meal, the Bistro attendee then, when questioned, reluctantly gave me back the correct amount.

To make matters worse, when I returned to my table, I saw that my almost full Schooner of beer had been taken away. For some reason, one of the bar staff decided to clear the table of all glasses, full or empty if unattended. When I spoke to bar staff about my drink being taken away, I was just met with indifference.

So if you are looking for poor service or a 50/50 chance of getting a meal you have paid for and then paying for drinks that you don't get the chance to enjoy, well, Bathurst RSL is the place for you.

Today we received the worst service I have ever received in 30 years anywhere in Bathurst for lunch. It was obvious our order was overlooked, and after 30 minutes the young girl at the register was dismissive stating "that's because so many of you are on the one buzzer" There were six of us on that buzzer (because that's the way SHE did it) and after twenty minutes others joined us for lunch and received their meals within 10 minutes - meals that were the SAME as the ones we had ordered. When we went to check, she was rude, dismissive and unapologetic. We asked another staff member from the kitchen, and on doing this, she turned her head and stated 'they're getting them now!" About 8 minutes later she brought our meals out and 'plonked' them on the servery, saying nothing to us. There ended up 12 on out table for lunch, and by the time we returned to our table the other six had finished their meals and the table had been cleared! No apology, rude attitude, this girl wouldn't cut it at McDonalds. The average age of our group was over 80 years young, and we have never experienced this treatment...

My wife and I visited Bathurst RSL on a busy Saturday night when the Matildas were playing their last game in the World Cup and the eating areas were pumping. Felt like the entire population of Bathurst was eating dinner there and watching the super large screen. Tables were plentiful and we didn't have any trouble getting somewhere to sit, when we arrived. I really felt like a Roast Dinner and was so happy that I could get one on Saturday night. It was fabulous and had loads of meat, vegetables and gravy, superb. My wife ate Grilled fish and vegetables, though she was disappointed that she didn't get the same vegetables that were served with the roast.
