Granddad's Bar Experience (Newcastle) — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

Just fabulous! What a delightful little bar and highly recommend! We were in town for a night before heading to Port Stephen’s and found it on a whim. Easy to book a booth via their website (or you could have booked bar, window or courtyard seats) and although we just popped in for a couple of drinks, you could order food in, or they did have meats/cheeses on offer.

The decor is beautifully done and loved the little touches on the table and the menus in old books. Cocktails were delicious and highly recommend the old fashioned (it’s smoky…you’ll see if you go) and the espresso martini.

Yet the staff made it an extra lovely experience - welcoming, friendly and good conversationalists. You should all be proud of yourselves for providing such a great experience in times when it’s pretty rare these days!

Wish I lived in Newcastle - I’d come here all the time! Yet will ensure to rave about it to anyone...

Granddad’s Bar is cozy, welcoming, and full of charm. It’s not a large venue, but that only adds to its relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The music perfectly matches the vintage vibe, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience. Known for whisky and gun, but they do have some other spirits.

The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and never rushed. The team took the time to chat, answer questions, and make us feel right at home.

The cocktails were spot-on. My Manhattan was fantastic, and my husband said his Whisky Sour was one of the best he’s ever had.
