To my fellow novocastrians… this fine evening I decided to visit the great northern hotel with my friends in hopes of a pleasant evening. Unfortunately. This was not the case. To begin my night, I ordered my food at 5:35pm (AEST), a chicken schnitzel (with gravy to be exact), yet after an hour of tireless waiting, I grew weary and my stomach began churning, disturbing fellow customers around me as my eye twitched. Just to add to the mix, my friends entrees came out after their mains and our drinks came 20 minutes later. Our friend who is violently allergic grasped for air as she recognised the crimson sauce which lay between her bun and patty. Shortly after, our friend fell victim to false advertising as she paid $9 for drinks after being promoted $6 drinks. The vibes were still not here as the dj took 2 hours to set up his laptop and ueboom speaker. No music has still not played. As I grew weary, I decided to get a refund of my meal, which could only be cash. This was incredibly...

We ordered three meals for lunch to cater for two. Ordered from the table via QR code with table service, 15 minutes. The decor is middle of the road. We ordered the Nepalese Dumplings with a peanut/tomato chutney. Serve of 6 was $16. Taste was great however the texture suggested they were not adequately steamed. We also had the Salt and Pepper Squid. Generous serve of aioli and side salad. Texture of the squid was soft on the inside with good crumb. At $19 the portion size was a little under. The Moroccan Pumpkin Salad was great. Quinoa, seeds and spinach leaves $14. Good serving size. This meal was adequate, though I would not seek this out again as a venue of choice. This might be one of the last remaining pubs that serves lunch and has a good selection of tap beers in the east end which is probably why...

Ordered take away, staff were warm and welcoming when I walked in. My partner has an allergy, asked about sauces with the allergen, explained the situation, we're used to being restricted, it's in everything. Accepted the fate, ordered 2 steaks, without sauce, got home to find the staff had crafted a sauce to accommodate the allergy, it's honestly the first time anywhere has done that, that customer focus and level of service is absolutely incredible! The sauce was great too, my partner was so excited about it, absolutely loved it! Great job all. Steaks were nice and thick, juicy, unlike some places that go for a large thin steak, and end up over cooked by the time it arrives. Price is competitive, quality is strong, atmosphere is nice and relaxed, good...

Good place for catching up with mates outdoors and indoors. The hotel offers buy one get one steaks every Tuesdays but you have to cook it yourself. I have the picture of the menu and we ordered rib eye 400grams which is more than enough for one person. They use to offer the buy one get one before without buying a drink but now you are only able to get buy one get one when each individual buys a drink. The price is ok for drinks but if you dont like alocohol or juice you can order a bottled water or they also have a tap water but you wont be able to get the offer without buying drinks. They have a salad bar which is unlimited so you can come and go.please see pictures below.

Not many options open on a Monday long weekend so the pub was the first choice. Not a bad atmosphere and the staff were pleasant. Up market pub food so the parmigiana was the choice of the night. Not too bad. The salad was a nothing fancy and the lettuce was a little limp. The chips were good, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. The parmigiana was a generous size. Crunchy coating, chicken well cooked and not dried out and the cheese and toppings was a nice layer on top. Please clean the floors around the bar. Very sticky. Not a bad experience and good value for money.
