It is located right at the top of one of Newcastle's hills. Such a beautiful building with fantastic views of the city. It was build on the grounds of the 1816 public school where 17 convict children were taught. The church is amazing inside and you can purchased a ticket to climb to the tower. It is the only church I have visited with has personalised knee cushions made by a local group of ladies. Outside there is an area dedicated to Newcastle War widows and the cathedral park is the burial ground of Newcastle convict settlement beginning in 1804. Read moreVisiting the famous Cathedral Church in Newcastle is a must. You can see from my photos how interesting it is. You definitely don't have to be religious to appreciate this iconic building. The cushions alone are fascinating to look at and try and pick a favourite one. Impossible. You can climb to the top of the tower and then out onto the steeple edge. The view is worth the climb.
