It is located right at the top of one of Newcastle's hills.  Such a beautiful building with fantastic views of the city. It was build on the grounds of the 1816 public school where 17 convict children were taught. The church is amazing inside and you can purchased a ticket to climb to the tower. It is the only church I have visited with has personalised knee cushions made by a local group of ladies. Outside there is an area dedicated to Newcastle War widows and  the cathedral park is the burial ground of Newcastle convict settlement beginning in 1804. Each step leading you to the top of the hill is dedicated to a dead person belonging to this old settlement.

Absolutely Highlight !! We spent one full day in Newcastle and we are so glad that we received the recommendation from a really friendly guy at the cafe "neighbours"!!! 🥰 Thank you to the women from the church to invite us to have a look in the tower upstairs 😍 sooo beautiful view above the city! Thank you! You all made our day really special. I highly recommend this place. You didn't have to book a ticket in advance, but please donate something when you leave this place

I'm not much of a church or architecture enthusiast but climbing the steeple at the Cathedral was worth it just for the view. If you would like to get a new perspective of Newcastle the this is one way to get it. A very easy climb and spectacular views of the city for miles around. Not the most exhilarating thing I've ever done but still something that I'm glad I did.

Visiting the famous Cathedral Church in Newcastle is a must. You can see from my photos how interesting it is. You definitely don't have to be religious to appreciate this iconic building. The cushions alone are fascinating to look at and try and pick a favourite one. Impossible. You can climb to the top of the tower and then out onto the steeple edge. The view is worth the climb. It is not too hard though. If you live in Newcastle it should definitely be on your bucket list. Loved...
