After staying at the QT in Sydney I was excited to find that one was opening in our town! Myself and 5 other ladies went to the Rooftop Bar for pre dinner cocktails. As other reviews have mentioned, we were placed on a waitlist for the rooftop bar, and were called 3 hours later (after we had eaten dinner elsewhere). We returned to the QT, as I really wanted to see how cool it was. So, some of the ladies wanted a soda and others cocktails, so we asked to pay individually for our drinks. We were told that it was preferable to them and easier for them, if they could just charge the table. We explained that we would then have to take down what everyone got and the price, then one person would pay then we would all have to get their bank details and create an account payee, then deposit into their account...And that would be ridiculous (for a bar)? I get that it's meant to be suave and cool to have 'table' service, like in a restaurant.. but it's not. It's a bar. You should be able to buy your own drinks without feeling like a pest! The waitress eventually agreed to charge us individually, but made a VERY strong point of letting us know how inconvenient that was for her and what a pain we were, and how busy they were! WTH seriously?? It took her a minute or two to bring her portable EFTPOS machine over whilst we all taped our cards for our drinks. I honestly didn't see the big deal? I'm paying pretty decent amount of money for a cocktail in a less than impressive venue with a magnificent view (compared to Sydney) and you also want me to make it EASIER on you, but a pain in the arse for us? Weird?? Fix the system if merely ordering a drink individually pisses the staff off that much! We left after one, none of us will go back after leaving us feeling like we were difficult and uncool. We are very cool!! Other staff at the venue were...
Read more1 star for the interior. 2 star for the male staff at qt rooftop We went with a group of friends and I gotta say the customer service was something you guys must discuss.
Let’s start from the Beginning so last Monday we arrive at qt the lady with red hair downstairs skip us and talk to a guy group we thought it’s a customer not staff. She stop us with a aggressive tone which is fine because we didn’t know that we have to wait at the door but however she giving attitude to us which we trying to ignore it because we want to be positive and it’s our friends birthday
When we went upstairs at the rooftop and there’s male staff which I gotta say he’s the ONLY PERSON who is nice and kind to us. Except the lady who I assume was a manager because she wearing the earphones. This lady was not nice at all and I gotta say she a little racist if u ask me. She was nice at first but later on she start to give us attitude. We were trying our best to having a good time and Ignore the red flag. As a manager u should be more professional and friendly but you are not. It’s feel we being the only one who targeted. Another reason why I’m upset is my friend split bills because they leaving first and later when we about to leave we can’t split bill and can’t pay cash. The friend who left early did pay cash and split bill.
In overall the management team. Please fix and solve this issue. I love the atmosphere and the environment but if your staff continues this behaviour. I’m sure you lose...
Read moreVery expensive, sub par drinks and service. Our group had 4 drinks. Two of these just plain gin and tonics, and two very simple cocktails, total $100! I understand that this is a 5 star hotel and this is their rooftop bar with a lovely view overlooking newcastle harbour etc, so expect a premium price. eg. $20 cocktails etc. However this was just rediculous. My gin and tonic for example, 50% of the smallish glass was large blocks of ice, garnished with a 5mm thick 'slab' of ruby grapefruit with rind, just shoved in taking probably another 10% of the volume. Really rough, and slammed together, absolutely no finesse; not even a coaster, in addition all this self serviced and paid for at the bar from a bartender lady with attitude bordering on rude. I actually live next door, so went there to showcase the hotel to Sydney friends. All remarked and certainly felt it was no better than any basic bar, very sub standard quality drinks & service which simply did not get close to the levels its charging for. Its a shame as this is a nice space with a lovely view and could be really excellent. However I'd be reluctant to return or to recommend, compounded as thought I'd be the very type of customer that QT needs... ongoing...
