So I think I may have just found my new favourite spot in Newcastle, I live only 2 minutes away also so i defo will become a regular haha. I've tried the ramen and rice dishes, which the curry on rice is my absolute fave. I would highly recommend the katsu curries or the ramen curries!! My only thing is that I wish the katsu curry sauce was a little bit sweeter ( I wish they had that as an option at least to get it sweeter) and wish they came with more potato/carrots. Last time I ordered it had no carrots or potatoes in the curry sauce :( (personal recommendation: always get the the fukujinzuke pickles removed as they're horrible, your meal will be 100% better without them) add on spinach and an egg instead :) JUST REMEMBER! always upsize if you can as the regular portions can be quite small. Even the jugs for drinks are deceivingly small. This place is totally both veggo and meat-eater friendly which is so awesome for me as a vegetarian. Now, everything here is kinda expensive (it's the CBD + inflation so makes sense) so just be aware of that, but 100% it is worth the value because it's SOOOOO yummy. + Staff are incredibly sweet, accommodating and friendly. + If you'd like to order at this place for pick up, just order with them on the phone or when you get there because if you order through the app or on their website sometimes it's so much more expensive which really sucks and prevents me from ordering it for deliveries when I'm at my friends house when i want to show them how good susuru is :( 10/10 would recommend anyway. Definitely will be coming back OH. And the massive fan, decor, seating layout + toilets are freaking AWESOMEEEE

After being recommended here by some friends that rave over the place, I can agree that the food was great but outside of that I was greatly disappointed. We had booked a table and were unfortunately running late (i’m sure this happens a lot, life gets in the way- and parking is extremely difficult in that area at dinner time too) We all tried phoning in advance from 5:30pm, as soon as they open. I myself tried calling 6 times, and another member of our group also tried calling 5+ times in attempt to alert them of our late arrival. Once we finally ordered and received our food, it took quite a while to come out to the table, which in most cases is fine- however 5-10 minutes after getting the food somebody came over and told us we only had 10 minutes left and we had to leave. Now for most people this is probably okay, but for myself, somebody who has had major stomach surgery recently and cannot eat quickly- i was only able to eat about 6 mouthfuls of my food before we were made to leave. Had somebody of answered the phone on one of the numerous times we had called, we may have been able to extend our reservation. There were no people lined up at the door waiting for our table, there were plenty of spare tables inside at the time we were leaving, and among our group we spent well over $250 whilst we were there and had we of had more time we potentially would have spent more money within the business. Overall i’m quite disappointed with the service. What I was able to eat of the food was delicious, would I return though? probably not for the amount of money spent and the treatment provided.

Had to update my review as I had returned to Susuru tonight! I ordered the Large Spicy Miso, and a strawberry lychee slushy for myself! This place remains the best Ramen establishment I have ever visited! My friend ordered the Shoyu Ramen and the Orion beer and was very satisfied with his meal. Last week, I had the pleasure of dining at Susuru Ramen & Gyoza for the first time with a close friend of mine. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the inviting ambiance and the meticulous attention to detail in the restaurant's decor. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the culinary experience. The pork broth was exceptional, boasting a rich and savory depth of flavor that exemplified the artistry of traditional ramen preparation. Each spoonful was a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity and quality. Equally delightful were the teriyaki gyoza, which were perfectly pan-fried to achieve a harmonious balance of crispiness and tenderness. The gyoza were bursting with flavor, and their delectable taste lingered pleasantly long after the meal was over. Throughout my visit, the service was impeccable, with attentive staff who ensured a seamless dining experience, as every aspect of my meal was executed flawlessly. I wholeheartedly recommend Susuru Ramen & Gyoza to anyone seeking a superb ramen experience. This restaurant truly excels in delivering both exceptional food and outstanding service! I will be returning many times in the future!

Amazing place with great food and awesome staff!!! Keep up the good work!

UPDATE I go here at least once a month and always had a great meal and great time. Today was a massive disappointment. We arrived at 1130, told there is a new menu but we could still order off the QR on the table, any problems go to the counter.

I ordered the takoyaki appetiser, chasu pork donburi, and teriyaki chicken donburi.

We were the first to order, and alone in the restaurant for almost 30 mins before the next customer arrived.

It took 38 mins to receive our appetiser, then 6 mins later the teriyaki chicken donburi arrived. The other customer received their food about 3 mins after that, then another 5 mins after that, my chasu pork donburi arrived.

It was not the dish I had ordered as it was covered in so much chilli I could smell it before it was put down infront of me and was so burnt that is was blackened. It was the new double pork menu item. I advised them that I didn't order that and what I had actually ordered on the QR menu, so they took it back to the kitchen and about another 7mins I had the chasu pork that I had ordered from the QR menu.

The pork was 2 parts fat to 1 part meat, and a very minimal amount in the bowl, and missing an egg, despite the picture of the dish I chose clearly had an egg in it. The teriyaki chicken was dry, no sauce, and no sauce in the bowl.

Once completed, I said to the reception on the way out how disappointed I was since over the past many visits I had always loved it and today was quite the opposite. I explained everything to the staff member and all they could muster was "I'm sorry to hear that"

The only reason for the 2 star review is the takoyaki was delicious as always but that was the only thing todays visit had...

Came here a few days ago because of all the positive reviews and high star rating on google. I got Shoyu ramen while my friends got Tonkatsu and Shio ramens.

Not sure if we came here on a bad day but Tonkatsu and Shoyu broths were just bland and disappointing. We asked for salt to adjust the broth to our taste but was told that they didn’t have any. Then, we attempted to ask for soy sauce since they had soysauce-vinegar sauce pre-made for gyoza. But, was again told that they didn’t have it and that we would have to use the soysauce-vinegar sauce if we wanted soy sauce. Not sure what kind of kitchen could not provide us with neither salt nor soy sauce.

Because of all the positive reviews, I was really hoping for a good or decent ramen. However, I hate to say this but instant ramen would be better than the ramen we had that day.

I have read the shop’s response to one of the reviews saying that if we are looking for something more flavourful to order tonakatsu instead of shoyu. But, my Shoyu that day was slightly more flavourful than Tonkatsu but still bland.

Tonkatsu broth is meant to be heavy and packed with flavour but the broth that day was just very bland. It was just like very diluted broth.

If there was anything good from our visit, Shio ramen was the most flavourful of what we ordered. The pork charsui, ramen eggs and prawn gyoza were decent.

Overall, just a disappointing experience. I hope the shop will improve on its ramens for other future customers. If the shop believes its ramen to be already flavourful, please provide condiments to adjust the flavour. All I wanted was some salt or soy sauce 😢 to fix...
