The Foundry on King — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I had brekky here at The Foundry cafe yesterday whilst staying at 291 on King. Located on the ground floor and adjacent to the Gym. The cafe has a good selection of food and beverages and I must say noteworthy coffee. I was served by courteous staff who made me feel welcome and I could tell they're passionate about what they do. For a cold Saturday morning, they were churning out coffee & food at a steady pace so I'm guessing weekdays they'd be even busier which is great to see. I ordered the Double Bacon & Egg Burger and my partner had a Pull Pork & Caramelised Onion on Turkish Toastie. These babies didn't disappoint and I was delighted by the generous, tasty fillings that certainly hit the spot. I regret not photographing the meals as we took them back to our rooms and got stuck right into them coz they looked and smelt so good! You know when you eat quality ingredients and by the time I devoured my Double Bacon & Egg Burger my hands and plate were a mess! I liked how their coffees had a number of shots apportioned to the size of cup you ordered. That impressed me and told me they don't make cheap and weak brews. Great find when staying in the hotel upstairs. New owners. Was served by a young lady (Kaylee) who was the perfect mix of friendly, chatty and quick when making our coffees. Coffees were the right temperature and served with a smile and a ‘have an awesome day’. Refreshing to have such great service especially on a Monday morning 😜. We can’t rate the food as we didn’t try it today but the selection available looked amazing and their bacon and egg muffin looked way better than that fast food rubbish you can buy. Thanks Team...

What a great spot for a quick lunch stop. The food was fresh and tasty with just the right amount of mustard and flavour. The chips were crispy and fluffy with just the right amount of seasoning.
