Alfonsino's — Restaurant in Northern Territory

A racist dinner here😢🙁

This is my first time eating here as recommended by a colleague.

Even though I have lived in Darwin for almost 3 years, this is the first time I have been treated like this by a waitress with one arm sleeve tattoo. It was terrible because she ruined the whole evening when I asked can I get a bill please and she was like, you have to go to the counter by yourself and get it with a glare. I feel sorry for my friend because I was the one who brought her here, she just moved here from Sydney a few days ago and had to endure this feeling.

After 15 minutes of us being rude, while I was apologizing and explaining to my friend that it was my first time here so I didn't know how bad it was, the waitress came back and threw the bill on the table rudely, she seemed to have lost her patience because she had asked us to get the bill ourselves but we didn't do as she said.

What a terrible night my friend and I have ever had. The pizza was ok but not Wow after trying it, we ate quite a bit so we plan to try the pasta next time if we have the chance, however I won't be coming back here because it made me feel so disappointed. Such a wrong choice in Alfonsino's. But I had no other choice because there were no more parking lot in casino. I eat Italian food regularly at Mindil beach Casino as the food is quite good and I love the sunset view over Mindil Beach, I feel pretty good and satisfied so I rarely change...

We arrived without a reservation and were kindly offered the last table available, just outside the kitchen. While the seating was a little hard (seat pads would be a thoughtful touch for this spot), I really appreciated that the team made space for us and apologized for the size of the table – thank you for the warm welcome 🙏🏻.

For entrees, we had the seafood gratin which was delicious. A small suggestion would be to serve it with a little dressing on the salad and a wedge of lemon for the seafood – it would have really lifted the dish.

Next came the Pizza Peppeniello, which was absolutely outstanding – one of the best pizza bases and overall pizzas I’ve ever had, even compared to those I’ve tried in Naples, Italy! Truly impressive, bravo 👏.

We also enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara, which was expertly made and beautifully balanced.

Overall, Alfonsino’s delivers excellent Italian cuisine with authentic flavors and a real passion for their food. With a few minor tweaks, it would easily be a perfect experience. Highly recommended if you’re in Darwin and craving...

Definitely the best pizza in Darwin. Their dough, & type of Napolitano pie can’t really compare to the other pizza places around because they don’t make it like this, and definitely don’t cook it in the wood fired oven like this.

I’ve tried two starters here: Caprese salad (really yummy fresh Buffalo mozzarella) and the Roasted Verdure: not so good. (over-charred and burned.)

Char, done right, can add tremendous flavor to fresh veggies, but Alphonsino’s completely annihilated it which made it, well, just yucky.

The Parpadelle with Lamb was perfect.

All pizzas are amazing.

Last year I had a parpadelle dish with pommodoro and maybe anchovie (or some other type of fish which was awesome) but I can’t seem to find that on the menu now.

I have come back for take-away at least 5x since the sit-down experiences that the review is based on because, well, it’s that good overall.
