I don't often post reviews unless things are exceptional or I think there is something worth noting for others. I thought it was appropriate to support other reviews about what I thought was appalling and rude customer service by one female staff member on reception. We attended a couple of weeks ago as tourists first time in Darwin. We were walking past at about 8.45pm one night, walked in off the street without a booking and sat at a table that was vacant. We were told that we couldn't sit there as this table was 'reserved' albeit there was no sign. We were moved to a small two person table (cafe style) and strangely no other customers dined from the table we were moved from. When being moved I picked up a menu but this was taken from my hand by this staff member and I was told I would be given the menu by a staff member. We shouldn't have stayed but did. I expressed my concerns with the staff member present after dining so she knows exactly how she made us feel. Not sure if she was having a bad night or not. I trust this female staff member can understand our perspective and might reflect on our interaction and apply this in the future. A trip to Pee Wee's restraunt to see how quality customer service is delivered to dining guests would be beneficial.
Sadly for the experience, the food was excellent I thought and all other staff bar this one female staff member were very professional. We didn't go back during our stay and probably would have without this experience. It's...
Read moreI went to chow for dinner 19th June 2021. There was a waitlist and we waited for our number to come. We did get our seats which I am thankful for however what followed after was really disappointing. Our mains were being brought 10 min apart from each other. The food lacked any flavours, if I wanted to eat bland food I might as well have just made simple soup at home. We had ordered Veg Pad Thai and Pork. The Pad Thai was super greasy with no sauce of any kind. Anyways we decided not to make an issue out it and decided would take the food home and add some sauce and extra flavour to the food and eat. When we got home we found a chicken piece along the tofu in our Vegetarian Pad Thai. If I wanted chicken I would have ordered chicken, I am vegetarian for a reason. For the entre we had vegetarian rice paper roll, there was no vego in there, all I could taste was vermicelli noodle wrapped in rice paper roll and to our surprise we found freaking potato chips in our Vegetarian Rice paper roll.
I guess the Chef just wanted to surprise us with his/her take on modern South East Asian Cuisine.
It really is very frustrating and disappointing regarding the whole situation. Well if you ever crave Vietnamese, this is the last place to go. I would suggest anyone reading this to go to your local store and buy the ingredients and it would still taste much better than what CHOW serves to their customers.
Never going...
Read moreHad an entree of lalot beef, vermicelli and some pickled vegetables with Lettuce- $18.50. Wasn’t much food but it was an entree, understandably. Ordered the Pork Belly for mains, which I noted had a brief description on the menu but was certainly under the “large plate” part of the menu…so understandably, I ordered that as that was going to be my main meal. They brought out the entree, but swapped out the allot beef and replaced it with a small serve of pork belly, in fact less protein than my entree, then charged me $32 for it! No value for money and was really bland, no flavour at all. Also waited over 90mins for this to come out despite other tables, with no’s between 2-8 getting their meals before us, entrees and drinks included. Drinks were absolutely loaded with ice, most of my drink was loaded to the brim with ice with a tiny amount of pre mixed soft drink and service was much to be desired. Only thing this place had going for it was the “Monkey Magic” art on toilet doors. Darwin has been a let down for me and chows sealed the deal…I’m here for another week and advising the groups I have coming in (120-130 ppl) to avoid Chows and any other place that is gimmicky like...
