I was so excited to try this place, as it seemed really cool! We arrived quite early, at 5:30pm last Monday to take advantage of the happy hour, the restaurant was still relatively empty and we were immediately seated by a young waiter, who didn't even give us the chance to look at the menu and wanted already to take our order. When we told him we needed a couple of minutes, he left and NEVER looked at us again, so did every other member of the staff that just kept ignoring our signals. After 10 minutes we went and asked to order ourselves (again, the restaurant wasn't that busy yet), we ordered two margaritas and guacamole as entrees, we still were unsure about ordering dinner because of the service, so we said we might order more later. Our chips and Guacamole arrived almost immediately, to our surprise! Maybe it wasn't all lost and this place was actually worth staying for dinner! All this quickly vanished when we realised that our drinks were not coming any time soon. After 10 more minutes of waiving to the staff, who was clearly ignoring us, we managed to get someone who apologised for the mix up and brought our drinks, 40 minutes after we ordered them! No need to say we didn't stay for dinner. Worst service I have ever experienced in my life, I would have given 1 star, but the margaritas were quite good. Just...
Read moreWe've heard all about how good Hot Tamale's Restaurant is, so we decided to try it out.for my b-day. Not a great experience at all, first off there was no offer of table water, we had 2 request it,(only figured that out half way thru our meal) when we had finished our ordered drinks So we ordered table water an a Pepsi, by the time it came out we were finished our meal and completely over our it. Food REALLY disappointing, it Mexican, it's not supposed to be fancy, I think that is where they have gone wrong. On the menu it sounds great, but really wasn't on the plate. I ordered a steak dish on the recommendation of the waitress, was told it was like a make your own fajita type of dish. Wasn't asked how I want the steak cooked, I'm sure they didn't rest it either, because by the time I got to the 3rd soft taco tortilla... the last tortilla? It was soggy...? An last point: Mexican to me means spicy? We weren't offered the "mild, medium or hot" choice of spice? Very disappointed, because it was quite bland, if I had of known I had to request my own spice level, I may have had a slightly better experience, but it really was too much. In my experience Pickles in Parap is a much warmer, informative and friendly restaurant, not like like Tamale's. It's like they've tried to make Mexican "Fine...
