The food is good; fresh, cooked well & presented beautifully. Unfortunately the service is seriously lacking in direction & organisation... The staff member at the entrance (presumably to welcoome guests), didn't! It was necessary for us to make ourselves known. The staff member that checked the computer for our booking, didn't seem to know where to seat us & ran off, without a word, to grab a third staff member. Once seated we were offered water. It never arrived! Later, a different staff member offered us water, which came. No one returned to take our orders. It was necessary to grab a passing staff member. Entree arrived within a reasonable time. However, we then waited an hour & 20 mins but still no main arrived. The staff member that had brought the water, rushed past a couple of times & said tgat our main shouldn't be long. The restaurant was not particularly busy, nor were our orders, long slow cook dishes. I'd hate to think how they cope if booked to capacity! Finally, yet another cokmpletely different staff member came to ask if we were enjoying our night. Yes, I was quite frank with my response. Our food arrived but before we could get in a word, to order the drinks we wanted, the TWO staff members that had delivered the food, had rushed off again. The restaurant missed out on our drinks and desserts orders, due to us not wishing to wait another hour+ and poor service. Too many staff wizzing around, without any front of house management direction about which staff members attend to which tables. No attention given to whether guests my wish to order food or drinks. Yes, the food was enjoyable but the entire experience was disjointed & ruined what should have been a relaxing Valentine's dinner. This was our second visit. Sliw service first time around, we put down to it being newly opened. Unlikely to go again & unlikely...
Read moreA huge disappointment, rude and not family-friendly. It seems their ideal clientele is 20-something hipsters. We arrived at 430pm on a Sunday for an early dinner with our two kids before Xmas carols. We asked if we could sit outside and we were given 3 x reasons why this wasn't possible: They'll be a storm this evening (note 'evening', it was 430pm!) That area is closed (?) We are fully booked (there were plenty of tables empty) We certainly didn't feel wanted! These reasons were delivered by a member of staff and the manager. The member of staff had gone to get the manager when her reasons for why we couldn't sit outside didn't stack up. He decided they weren't fully booked and he could get us a table on the patio (not outside). We accepted. About 5 mins after sitting down two groups of people were sat at the outside tables, where we were told many reasons why we could not sit there. When the manager was questioned about this, he pretty much shrugged his shoulders. We also asked for a high-chair which never arrived and he up-sold drinks without making us aware of the price difference. We were given the impression we were not welcome because we had kids. The food was ordinary and over-priced. Certainly not the friendly service I've become accustomed to in Darwin, I felt like I was in a much larger capital...
Read moreImportant to state that I am not in the habit of posting bad reviews, not in any way, unless they are plainly due, as was the case here. We stopped-in at Snapper Rocks after a great session at the adjoining wave pool. Ordering from the lunch menu, fish and chips was all we wanted. The meal arrived promptly, but the 2 small portions of fish were burnt, plainly and visibly. Upon sampling, the over-thick batter was extremely oily, greasy beyond use, seriously bad. The waitress, asking for her 3rd time, caused me to eventually give her the bad news. Deeply concerned, she said she would tell the chef. We waited a short while, but were not informed of the outcome - what we did notice, was that all of the fish and chips orders the came from the kitchens for other diners, looked equally overcooked. I will state again, that it takes a world of issues for me to complain, and again, only when it is seriously overdue. Yes, even at $22 a fish and chip lunch should be edible...this one was not. I am sure this outlet serves good food, but this was far from good, and we ought to have been offered, at the very least, a...
