A Heartwarming Hub of Community, Compassion, and Culinary Delight Stepping into Sam's cafĂ© is akin to entering a rich tapestry of community spirit mingled with a dash of historical charm. Nestled in the heart of Darwin, this cafĂ© blossoms under the diligent care of Sam, whose multifaceted service to the community is nothing short of inspiring. Every Friday, the cafe morphs into a sanctuary for the local veteran community, offering not just free coffee, but an atmosphere of camaraderie where stories are shared. The collectible fair run by the cafĂ© is a quaint voyage into the past, offering a platform for enthusiasts to exchange and purchase unique treasures. As the holiday season approaches, Sam’s initiative to organize a 'Feed the Homeless' event reflects a deep-rooted empathy, creating a conduit for locals to contribute food and services, fostering a true sense of community. The verdant charm Sam infuses into the café’s surroundings is a testament to his eye for beauty, making the space a verdant retreat amidst the urban hustle. Moreover, his recent election as a councilman for Darwin City Council showcases a level of trust and respect he has garnered among the locals. The cafĂ© itself is a delightful time capsule, with fascinating artifacts adorning every nook, inviting patrons on a nostalgic journey through time. The inclusion of a vegan menu was a pleasant surprise, offering a modern culinary touch to the otherwise vintage ambiance. Every aspect of the cafĂ©, from its community-oriented services to its charming dĂ©cor and diverse menu, resonates with the warmth and dedication Sam and his team bring into this beautiful venture, making each visit a unique, heartwarming experience. A definite must visit, and absolutely would recommend.

An awesome experience with great service, great coffee and lots of memorabilia from retro gaming consoles to old school games, toys and collectibles. Come and check it out you will not be disappointed with your trip down memory lane - with those old childhood favourites, reminiscing of visits to the video shop and playing the old Atari on Nintendo console.

What a treat! Photos don't do it justice, but this cafe is a full on 70's cultural immersion zone packed with memorabilia from vintage video games, TV posters, classic collectibles and with great food and a very interesting owner. Being a vegan I loved the plant based options.

Last night I went to games night and boy was I nervous!

I went on my own to make new friends.

After making the journey there, and getting lost, I finally found the cafe and almost didn’t go in.

I get nervous when meeting new people.

I fear people won’t like me and I worry that they’ll think I’m stupid. I fear rejection... don’t we all?

So as I walked past the entry, I said to myself; “Just go in and say to the staff that I’m here to play games and they’ll look after me.”

And they did.

I just focussed on that one first move; entering the shop, and talking to one person.

The rest was easy! After I introduced myself, the guy behind the counter said “Great! We need a fourth person to play ‘Hardhitters’” and then he introduced me to a small group of people and we sat down to play.

I enjoyed myself and made some new friends.

The cafe also took me back in time to my childhood. It was quite a nostalgic evening!

It only took me 2+ hours to get my head around the game and I’ll definitely go back for more play.

This is my favourite way to meet like-minded people: sharing an activity / experience...

A deep dive in the fantasy/sci-fi video gaming/movie culture of the 80s and 90s. The cafe's area is tiny (think 3 rooms of a small sized house), and they are filled up to the ceiling with vintage memorabilia and video cassettes. I know no nerd born between 1975 and 1995 that wouldn't enjoy a coffee here with a smile, proven that he/she also likes kids, as they are rightfully ever present. The place could, in fact, be considered very much kids oriented, as long as said kids are accompanied by 80-90s culture nostalgic parents. Food is also unexpectedly good, although there aren't many choices on the menu. My understanding is that some local clubs made of this cafe a sort of unofficial venue for their reunion, so it is not recommended to people that...
