The steak was nice, very tender. It's better to order a degree rarer, for example if you like medium rare, order rare instead. It definitely feels more like a 400g steak than a 500g steak, great portion. The salad accompanying the steak wasn't that great. Instead of mash or chips, they have diced creamy potatoes, it was nice but it's rather strange. To get chips you need to buy extra instead, so you have two types of carbo with your meal, the hot chips were amazing.
The sauces are $3 extra, plenty of sauce but it's runny and salty, the Dianne sauce is nice, tastes like garlic sauce.
The service is quick when there are not many people. The outdoor area is nice although there are some flies, as expected being outdoors.
They don't offer cold water on arrival, I wasn't sure if it's available somewhere or if you need to collect it from the bar area.
You get a piece of paper to write your order and then you go to the cashier to order and pay. The EFT post fee is quite step, almost 2%.
The place is like a restaurant, the menu is like a fancy steak restaurant, the service is like a tavern where you go to the counter to order. I was a bit confused with the concept actually, not sure if it's a casual or a semi-formal restaurant.
The price is reasonable being at the centre of town, parking can...
Read moreWhen arriving we were met by Tim (owner) who said “we don’t have dogs here” as I have a nationally certified assistance dog who was clearly marked with his working jacket and license. I also showed Tim his government license on my phone and he stated “it’s still a dog”! He suggested he take the dog and put it out back clearly not realising what an assistance dog is, so clearly I said no so he then suggested putting us away “in an isolated area” his reason for this is in his words “muslims don’t like dogs” again I was shocked at his racist comments as well as his discriminatory vocalisation around service animals. Non the less we sat in isolation with our two children in toe the food was average, everything you can get in a pub but it just costs more but the meat was cooked good would be my only positive on this experience as a whole.
I have two blind clients visiting Darwin this month and they wanted to go to Tim’s restaurant however due to Tim’s direct racist and discrimination I would not suggest anyone attend who has any form of impairment due to fear of discrimination.
Moorish dining restaurant around the corner is a dining experience not just an another glorified over priced pub 👌🏼 so I would suggest going there, however make sure you make a booking as they always...
Read moreWe have never written a negative review. But we had so many other travelling family’s recommend this place. We just had to go. Taking our family and friends out (Group of 12) - we told the kids there would be a “surprise” to follow dinner. We have heard the magic tricks are brilliant and we were really excited for them to see. From the minute we get there, Tim (owner) was telling the kids not to play near the rocks. Negative from the start. We spoke to the waiter and she was fabulous. She advised Tim we came to see his magic and have been recommended. After the kiddos dinner we waited. The kids thought they would go and ask. And our kids are very respectful. Waited in line patiently and when got to the front of the line our eldest politely stated “a little birdy told us that someone does magic here ….” To which Tim abruptly interrupted him and said “yes, when he wants to …. Now get out of my line…”. Wow.
We were gobsmacked the owner could be so rude and disrespectful.
Not to mention one of our meals was raw, and when we politely took it back to advise, Tim gets all defensive and blamed one of his chefs that wasn’t feeling well
So disappointed. Kids really sad and this just ruined the entire experience. Tarnished the night and won’t be forgotten...
