We came to Port Douglas for a few days and this restaurant was the only one we booked in advance. We couldn't wait to taste the delights that the menu suggested and that previous diners had enjoyed. (based on the reviews, we knew it had to be special!). It was a special occasion for our long lunch so we settled in with a local gin (divine) followed by a bottle of Clover Hill Tassie bubbles (a favourite of ours!). Our first platter was the seafood choice and it didn't disappoint. Fresh prawns, oysters and scallops featured and the taste was perfect. We then opted for the charcuterie platter with a delectable array of cheese, pastes and meats as well as a house made baguette, warmed perfectly. The house made pates were a highlight and there was absolutely none left in either jar. The platters are made with love and local fare and the owners clearly take pride in what they deliver. The service was first class and it makes it easy when you do what you love. We left with our bellies full after a beautiful long lunch that was everything we hoped it would...

It is one the greatest pleasures in life to eat well, and be provided with service similar to The Burj Khalifa!

I've travelled extensively and I am happy to say I found a small piece of heaven in Port Douglas, called Epicurean. Its humble placement at the edge of the Portico shopping precinct gives one no clue to experience they are about to encounter.

We decided to have the European charcuterie board, with the most divine hand made pâté, pork terrine, and the best French gruyère (a little stronger I think than the Swiss) I've had in a long while. Complemented by beautiful wine (we opted for our home grown Murray St, SA). Then it was just a case of sitting back, enjoying the food, and convivial atmosphere which washes over you. It is essential you book, so as not to be disappointed.

This is a truly wonderful venue, they are wonderfully attentive, you'll not find a...

My partner and I are locals of Port Douglas and fully support small businesses- especially when the food is so bloody good- we are big foodies! Marlene and Rohan make the finest of delicacies so simple and enjoyable. We have always had such a relaxed and enjoyable time popping in for lunch, everything is so moreish and the knowledge they both have about their wines and delicious foods really resonates in what they provide as a business. It is a special place for my partner and I and we love the smaller, comforting establishments such as the Epicurean - it's just a lovely environment. I am always recommending them, they do such a fab job- you must pop in and try everything on the menu (I wish I could). Thank you Marlene an Rohan for being really hospitable and making each dine-in experience a pleasure :)...

A wonderful place for a long, leisurely lunch on a hot sunny day. The food is simple and focuses on small plates, seafood and charcuterie. A small wine list reasonably priced. We ate Prawn Skagen which is deceptively simple, but superb. So much so, we ordered a second serve. The chicken and confit garlic terrine and pork rillettes were excellent. The hostess and chef make a great team, and are friendly and professional. We’ve eaten here 3 times over the past few years and love the relaxed atmosphere and food. The space is a delight. Try for a table on the verandah and relax. And do make a reservation. Our recent lunch saw several ‘drop ins’ unsuccessful if getting a table.

What a wonderful surprise in Port Douglas. We’ve travelled extensively around the world (well pre covid) and our platter at Epicurean would rate way at the top of our dining experiences. Why? Because the food was made with love. Marlene and Rohan have a passion for flavour, knowledge and customer service. Each element of our charcuterie board was delicious, and paired beautifully with every other offering. Marlene gently nudged us towards wine we loved, and visited regularly in a non intrusive way to check we were enjoying our lunch and answer questions. Thoroughly and totally recommend a visit…or two.

A retired Kiwi couple on holiday for a week at Port Douglas. Our lovely daughter gave us a voucher for the Epicurean so off we went. We enjoyed excellent food although I confess that we lack experience of the subtleties involved. I suspect that this would not apply to some other diners who appeared to be regulars. Service was friendly, helpful regarding what we were being served and efficient. No long waits. All in all I can see why they have signage that 'drop-ins' may be unable to be seated. Thanks Guys, a memorable experience at several levels.
