By The Sea Port Douglas — Hotel in Port Douglas

As many others have said, this location is simply unbeatable. You are right on Macrossan Street and right across the road from 4 mile beach, it doesn't get any better location wise.

My advice is to book directly through By the Sea as they had a much better rate than any other site I went on, Booking or Trivago, for example.

My 3 friends and I had a 3 bedroom villa (Jelly Baby) for a week and it ended up costing us less than $100 per person per night. The quality of the villa was outstanding, also. It had a pool adjacent, three spacious bedrooms, an outdoor eating area with bbq and shower, balconies with a fantastic view and a big kitchen; absolutely everything you could need. You really can't go wrong.

If you don't have something you need, all you need to do is visit reception and there is a plethora of items you can hire out at no extra charge. Towels, pool toys, DVDs, eskies, beach chairs, you name it and they'll find it for you.

At reception you will also find any and all information you could possibly need on tours or trips, I highly recommend booking these through By the Sea as well as they will take care of everything for you and make sure you get picked up and dropped off home. A friend and I went out to the reef and had an all organised through reception, all we had to do was show up.

The staff there are absolutely amazing and were nothing but supportive and helpful throughout the entire booking process. anything we needed while on the trip, we just asked and they are more than happy enough to help us out.

I have stayed in Port Douglas a fair few times now and I can safely say that this is the best place to stay if you want to be central to everything and have everything in walking distance.

A 30-second walk across the road and you're on four mile beach, a 10-minute walk down the road and you're at the end of macrossan Street.

I highly recommend going for a villa if you have a few people going with you, it was a fantastic trip and I can't think Myra and the Girls at By the Sea enough.

We had the most amazing stay at By The Sea during our recent trip to Port Douglas. In fact, the great service started in the weeks before we arrived - the communication was outstanding. The rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully fitted out. We stayed in the 2-bedroom terrace room - we were kindly offered a free upgrade, and we couldn't have asked for more. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the inclusions in the kitchen and bathrooms were exceptional, and with two TV's, both adults and kids were very happy when we had to stay indoors one evening due to the cyclone! The TVs were equipped with Foxtel, Neflix, Amazon Prime, you name it. You can tell that the ladies who run By The Sea have placed their guests' comfort and needs above all else. The best part of room for my husband and me was the room's balcony/deck, surrounded by tropical foliage. We had many a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening cocktail on the deck, making use of their multiple seating arrangements. Besides the room, we could freely use the pool toys, deck chairs, towels, kids games, DVD's and so much more from reception. The location is also perfect - just a one-minute walk to the beach, and on the same street as the restaurants, cafe's and shops. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend By The Sea for anyone visiting Port Douglas, particularly for families with young kids. Incredible staff! Very welcoming! Our stay was even better than expected! Our room was very clean and tidy, and had everything we need, including unlimited towels/soap, etc. The resort also had free pool supplies such as floaties, noodles, snorkelling equipment, gym equipment, etc, as well as free movies and Netflix that you could watch! Not to mention that the resort is in an incredible location, with heaps of restaurants and stores nearby!! The ladies that work at the resort were incredibly kind and caring and went out of their way on numerous occasions to help us out or give us suggestions about good restaurants to eat at or even activities to do! Before our stay, we had contact with Myra via email and she sent us a VERY long email about fun activities and places to visit such as the Daintree rainforest tour, snorkelling, horse riding, crocodile farm-which was very appreciative!! The girls that work at by the sea are very experienced and seemed to know the best locations for tourists and once again, gave us really good ideas on things they recommend for us! 100% recommend!
