Flare Restaurant — Restaurant in Port Macquarie

The most disgustingly rude and passive aggressive, threatening and frightening behaviour from a restaurant (owners/couple) that clearly think they can treat their customers poorly and it’s ok. The red haired waitress was repeatedly rude and then we could clearly see her discussing us to a male co worker most likely her partner and owner making it clear she did not want us there. They dealt with the situation by getting the suspected owner to stare aggressively for a very extensive period to frighten us. What kind of a restaurant is that?

My children, are older, well mannered, and the suspected owners made it a frightening experience by staring angrily at us as if they were criminals. It was weird.

We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Clearly they think they’re so trendy they can afford to treat their customers badly.

it was such an awful way to treat particularly children. And to boot the food was less than ordinary and over priced.

The casual night we had been looking forward to was a shocking experience. We did nothing to deserve that kind of treatment. No one would deserve it especially not kids.

And having a man and suspected owner in the customer service industry stare in a threatening manner to intimidate a woman and her children to get us to leave when the place was quiet for no legitimate reason when much younger kids they clearly knew were running around knocking over chairs and treating the restaurant like a playground was happening at the table behind us was a truly awful experience. I realised they were friend’s with the owners as the waitress/owner was sitting with them but we were treated so badly for a simple mistake in an order made by my 12 year old and then all service was stopped and then this weird aggressive behaviour from the man behind the counter who we had never spoken too began.

What kind of people do this? What kind of man would do this to children? What kind of woman is that nasty that quickly to women and children over nothing of significance? What kind of restaurant staff and owners behaviours this way? It’s was incredibly unkind and unwarranted treatment.

It was the worst experience I have ever had by far at a restaurant.

We went to this restaurant last night as it had good reviews. We were bitterly disappointed. I had ribs and they were not cooked long enough. I couldn’t even cut them with a steak knife. I expect ribs to be falling of the bone. These were tough and sinewy. Could not eat them. Needed 2 more hours slow cook at least. My friend had crispy pork. It was tough and chewy. We wondered why he was given a steak knife with it when it came to the table. We did tell the waitress when she asked how the food was but no reaction from the owner. DO NOT GO THERE. Thankyou for your reply but you must have us confused with someone else. You waitress did not come back to our table to address this issue. She just asked if we wanted dessert. And yes I did try to eat the ribs thinking there must be at least one that is ok. But each piece was just undercooked chewy and sinewy. If you did look at the plate you would know that. The food you served us was not good. I cannot comment on what other diners like or choose to eat but I stand by my experience and I repeat no one addressed this issue with us so yes we paid and left. ...

This is how burgers are done!

The smashed patties are made of quality meat, cooked a little over medium (basically perfect). The special burger sauce is subtle, but tasty, and without an overpowering mustard (just how it should be). The cheese is spot on; melts well and tastes great. The value of the triple cheeseburger is genuinely very good. This was in stark contrast to a recent disappointment at The Beach House, where $25 gets you a flavorless, 1 star burger with a third of the meat. Flare's $23 triple stack was the size I expected, put together with care, had well balanced flavours, and yet still came with a very respectable portion of chips.

The kids cheeseburger meal had the same quality, and my eldest said it was a "definite 9.5 out of 10", and he's a hard critique. (I believe the ketchup that came with his chips were home made, which I used to dip chips in.)

Furthermore, the staff are courteous, and everything was ready faster than expected (I do very much appreciate efficiency).

Well done guys! The high ratings are well deserved, and we'll be back the next time...
