Newtown Hotel — Restaurant in Queensland

My husband and I returned to the Newtown Hotel today for our steak lunch we often enjoy and when asked by one of the staff how our meal was, I had to be honest and mentioned that my steak didn't taste quite right. The waitress immediately brought the manager over to our table and asked if there was anything she could help us with. I said the steak tasted slightly off and she offered without hesitation, to replace my meal, with another steak or anything else from the menu. I was promptly given another freshly cooked meal and was asked several times if everything else was ok. I would like to say thank you to Jenny (the Manager) and the wait staff for your professional service and willingness to take care of your patrons. We will continue to come by for our meals and recommend your establishment to all of our friends....

My second time here after fond dinner memories with a friend 5 years prior, this time for lunch. The staff I interacted with were all extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. The restaurant was clean and tidy, as to be expected during a quiet lunch on a Monday.

My friend and I were given a couple of free chicken wings while our lunches were prepared which were absolutely delicious! Will be getting them next time I go.

Our food was prepared reasonably quickly and was, overall, delicious. Really good sized portions as well.

The only negative thing I have to say is that despite ordering my steak med-rare, it came out well done. Nothing that ruined my meal, by any means, but still disappointing nonetheless.

Good meal ruined by poor service and hygiene. Ordered the Rump with vegetables and mushroom sauce with chips. Steak came out cold, chips were under cooked. Still tasted pretty good. Then it finished off with a hair in the gravy. My partner Ordered rare which came out as medium. Finished up coming out well after everyone else was finished. When asked how we went, staff said they'd get the manager. He came across for a chat. Pretty much looked and spoke to me like I was a liar and a fool for having hair in my meal. Asked about getting a drink as compensation, was rudely ignored. First time I'd been there in years, probably the last for a while again. Shame, my partner only lives...
