Sushi Paradise Cairns — Restaurant in Queensland

I've been looking for tekkamaki in Cairns for quite a while now. I found a restaurant that serves it but it's only open in the evening. I want to have it at lunchtime when I'm in the city.

I went to Sushi Paradise on a whim; my main hesitation is that it's a takeaway place with just a handful of seats to sit near the window after you've made your purchase. So it's mainly for takeaway.

Of the line up of food shown at the counter my eyes immediately went to several packages containing tekkamaki. Strangely, they call them mini fresh tuna. Whatever they choose to call them they are what I wanted and each packet contained 6 pieces, the equivalent of what you'd get served in a restaurant but served a plastic package instead of a plate. I bought 2x packets and enjoyed both. The price was "unbeatable", so I'm very impressed.

For people who like other things they had the equivalent but with salmon, called mini salmon rolls, that were 5% cheaper than the already inexpensive tuna.

During our recent trip to Cairns, my partner’s family and I were captivated by this sushi spot. We enjoyed their offerings so much, we returned for lunch two consecutive days.

Predominantly a take-out establishment, they craft visually stunning and incredibly fresh sushi rolls. Highlights from their hot section include deep-fried prawns, chicken karaage, and delightful veggie tempura. The takeaway bento bowls and ramen are equally impressive.

Their efficient service shines, as staff are friendly and attentive, making the take-out experience seamless and pleasant. Although there's limited seating available, it’s cozy and works well when it’s not too busy.

Just steps from the beach, it's the perfect spot to grab a packed lunch complete with all the essentials (napkins, soy sauce) for a beachside picnic.

Small little place but clean and tidy with great food. I had the best fresh spring roll I’ve tried in my life - salmon and prawn fresh spring roll. I’m not a big fan of rice paper rolls but this is so fresh and soft. Very delightful. Teriyaki chicken bowl is super yummy - the way they slice the chicken with a bit of skin on every piece adds a great texture to it. The teriyaki sauce used on the chicken is perfectly balanced. Again, I’m not a big fan of teriyaki because some places make it too sweet. But this is good. I feel like a second bowl now. Staff are very friendly - positive...
