As a mum to an active 1 year old I was looking forward to a simple quick lunch with my boy. What should have taken 25 minutes max, took over 50. Sitting trying to occupy an ever increasing grumpy 1 year old for that long on its own was frustrating then to top it off i had to leave with a half cold meal in a takeaway box as my son was at the end of his tether. The cafe was 1/3rd full, and Im assuming due to the young ages of the wait staff, and a lack of life experience, not once in the time it took them to deliver 6 or so meals in my area did they acknowledge the long wait, nor the fact that there was a baby getting more and more upset as time ticked on, and then I was too as I dislike disturbing other patrons. Most experienced wait staff would at a minimum apologise for the lengthy wait, and had it been me, advised the cook on duty that they may wish to expedite an order. My order was a simple toastie with chips. An experienced chef/cook should have had that out in 20 mins max (my partner is a qualified chef no longer in the industry and would have been appalled had he been there). I have always liked the coffee club due to the fact that you generally know you will get good quality food in a reasonable amount of time. Im not sure if it has changed ownership’s since my last visit (pre pregnancy) but to say I was extremely disappointed by the service I received would be an understatement, the fact that it was a rare treat made it even more so. Im usually quite easily pleased, understand that at times situations can happen but the complete lack of acknowledgement, communication and customer service in this instance means that I will no longer be a supporter of this establishment nor will I recommend it to others (which i have in the past). After an extremely long and stressful week all I wanted was a nice simple lunch with my baby and I got instead a bitter taste in my mouth upon exiting the establishment, takeaway box in hand and with an upset child. She put cream in my coffee, and I politely asked if I could have it without cream (the menu clearly states that "frappes come with cream on request"). The woman at the counter didn't ask me anything, rolled her eyes, tipped the drink out without saying a word, and remade it. Then, another woman handed it to me, and as I was looking at her, she said, “BYE!” I asked why she was being rude, and she responded, “I wasn’t rude, I remade your drink.” Honestly, I would have been fine if she had just scooped the cream off. I told her, “You rolled your eyes at me, and I asked for lactose free milk - why would I want cream on top?” She then started yelling from the counter, with everyone around me looking, and in a very condescending tone said, “Noooo, I wasn’t rude,” before adding, “Move along” as I was walking away. After 45 minutes 2 meals came out, 20 minutes later a staff member came & asked if we were waiting on anymore meals we told them what we were waiting for (smashed avo on sourdough & veggie big breakfast) another 15 minutes go by my avo on sourdough comes out all slapped together by what looked like a 2 year old. 20 minutes later another staff member came & asked if we were waiting on anything else, we told them AGAIN what we were waiting for. 10 minutes later we asked to cancel the order, the manager was rude & coughed out a half a**ed apology.
