Palmer's Bar and Kitchen — Restaurant in South Townsville

Dinner on the 20 Nov 2023. Ok so it’s not often I give a five star review. But I was completely blown away by this place. After spending a few hours here trying 2 different dishes, well WOW who ever they have in the kitchen, let’s just say they know what they are doing. first off I had the Pork Bites (and although you may think simply pork and slaw, the ratios of pork to sauce and slaw to dressing and pork to slaw are perfectly balanced for every bite each mouthful is packed with the correct amount of mixing flavours. 2nd I had the prawn and avocado cocktail again you think meh it’s a bit simple but it was exceptional with the balance of flavours and with a squeeze of the lemon wedges made the tender prawn and creamy avocado sing like the Siren of the seas!

So with my first experience although a small sample it’s a winner!

The staff were amazing and so lovely. Food preparation was really quick, even though it was busy. Approximate dining time is 45min and the cocktails were soo good! Steak was cooked perfectly, bolognese had a little spicy kick that I LOVED, bircher museli wasn't too sweet, the poached eggs oozed golden yum yum, garlic bread was soft with a crisp little edge, perfect amount of mushroom sauce for the chicken supreme, arancini was divine, and the quesadillas were amazing with that sauce. Loved my stay because of the food! So good! Sorry about the pics, there's a bite taken out of the food in every one because the chefs didn't bust their butts over a hot stove for me to let the food go cold for a pic. Had breakfast there on a Sunday morning. Restaurant was less than half full but it took ages for my coffee and then breakfast to arrive (although my food arrived earlier than the bloke sitting at a nearby table who was there before me). Coffee was fine, drinkable but not noteworthy. Had the green bowl (think that’s the name). Was missing one of the listed ingredients, one ingredient wasn’t cooked according to the menu and there was a dressing that wasn’t on the menu. More quinoa than a quinoa farm. Okay breakfast despite it not matching the menu. Table wasn’t cleaned between diners, although plate was taken away but dirty table left unwiped. Okay in a pinch but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
