Really reluctant to be writing this and I was really looking forward to the bottomless brunch at Mimosa knowing that its predecessor tiisch made great food and coffee. This is not a criticism, but a reflection of my dining experience and am hoping that this feedback can be used for improvement. Not sure if it's a bad day or just an unlucky day for us. Paid $50 for the non-alcoholic version but definitely feel that the portion and quality really didn't meet my expectation. I would have paid less or the same amount for a decent breakfast at any other cafe in perth. The small starter was probably the yummiest, granola and compote fruit/raspberries with a dash of yoghurt. Ordered a confit salmon eggs benedict on sourdough for the main. The salmon was cooked well but the sourdough was quite soggy, the crust wasn't crispy like sourdough should be. It tasted like white thick toast that hasn't been toasted well. Eggs were poached well and hollandaise sauce was ok. The plate was probably a bit too big in comparison to the serving size. For drinks, I had an ice cold brew which was ok. The waitress also didn't come back to ask for another round of beverages. Where we were seated made it super awkward to keep getting out to the front counter to order more drinks. Tap water also wasn't refilled when she came to collect the empty plates. Dessert wise, wasn't sure if it was from Mimosa or catered by someone else for my friend's birthday. A tiny cupcake with icing cream, pretty-looking but taste wise was again, ok. The brunch was nice, overall, it was ok, but not great. Again, it's not a critique but for a bottomless brunch and knowing that I've heard great reviews about it, I was a bit disappointed. Just wanted to give an honest review and think they can definitely improve. Last thing, we were seated inside and the level of talking/noise with the amount of people inside made it hard to hear anyone, even the waitress taking our orders struggled to hear us. The level of sound proofing inside the cafe was quite poor, if going in a small group, it might be wiser to sit outside.
Update: thanks Mimosa for responding and your clarification regarding the plates and byo cupcakes. I didn't want to dampen my friend's birthday party but definitely did not enjoy the experience. That is why I just ate what had been served, despite it not being up to expectation. I also didn't add initially that the salmon that I had also gave me diarrhoea for 2 days after the brunch. The reason why I gave it 1 star was because of these reasons, it was nice but it wasn't great and out of all the bottomless brunches I've been to, this one, unfortunately, fared the worst and I won't be back and won't be recommending anyone to it as well. Again, it's an honest reflection of my experience. I've also noticed, after writing my review, that there are a number of reviews with the same feedback. Perhaps, the feedback can be used for...
Read moreBooked in for a Sunday Bottomless Lunch with 5 people after previously coming here a year ago and having a 5 star experience. On arrival service was questionable as we were greeted by unfriendly waitstaff. After a single round of drinks we were encouraged to order our mains which came out 20 minutes later, one of which contained a long dark human hair embedded in the middle of the mushroom pasta dish. Having previously worked in hospitality, I brought this up in a friendly and non-confrontational manner with our waitress who proceeded to take the dish to the chefs window (next to our table) to be followed up. The chef then yelled through the window to us (resulting to half the restaurant turning their attention to our table) stating the hair was ‘a part of the Parmesan cheese’ and was supported with a similar statement from our waitress who attempted to bring the dish back to the table as it was. Due to the situation becoming increasingly embarrassing, we declined a replacement meal and said not to worry about it. For the next hour we were treated coldly and had to keep asking for more service as it was not being provided unless asked. Upon finalising the bill there was no consideration towards the meal error, we requested a discount politely and this was passed on to the manager who could only offer us the price of the ‘non-alcoholic’ package. The manager was also informed by our waitress/his staff member that the chef came out and spoke to the table about the error however this was simply not the case (as per above). We had high hopes coming back to this venue after having a good experience previously however were very...
Read moreWe attended Mimosa for a Bottomless Brunch. Initially service was great, drink selection was good! The Sangria and Mimosa was very tasty.
But as a group of girls who have frequented a few places for “Bottomless Brunches” this would have to be the least satisfying by far.
To start was a Granola ( but our booking was at 1130am, and it was not until 1230 that this arrived ). It was tasty, but for a brunch over drinks previously we have had breads, dips and other things to share which we prefer.
We ordered our mains at 1200 but they did not arrive until after 1pm ( the brunch is over 2 hrs - so drinks technically ended before we had finished eating our food ).
Two of us got the gnocchi- it was doughy, floury and perhaps undercooked? It needed seasoning and I couldnt even bring myself to finishing it.
Someone else had avo on toast which she enjoyed. The last person had the pancakes. She said they were ok.
There is definitely room for improvement. I personally wouldnt go back again but I hope this feedback allows for some change...
