Two colleagues and I visited this place after work today and experienced terrible customer service. We arrived at the pub at around 6.15 pm and ordered beer and food. We found a place at the end of a long table, which had no sign of booking. Quite a while after a group of other customers who shared the table with us left, someone put a reservation sign on that long table, beyond the reachable distance from us, and obviously, we did not think much or say anything. Then, at around 7.15 pm, while we were having our second round of drinks, a staff member came to inform us that the table was booked from 8 pm, not even caring to redirect us to another table. I told him right away that he should not treat customers in that way – if you want your customers to move, make your request politely and offer them an alternative place, especially when their glasses are still half-full and may order more! Finally, at around 7.40 pm, the bloke came back and pointed us to a table outside – and it was pretty cold outside. Needless to say, we left the place there and then. In fact, most of the staff at the pub seemed friendly, and my colleagues liked the food, but we can’t say that we had a great experience and will probably...
Read moreAfter visiting Refuge Bar many times for a Friday afternoon drink, we decided to investigate holding a function there. It was magnificent! The team at Refuge could not have been more friendly and helpful, from the initial inquiry through the entire event. Nothing was too much trouble. They answered all my questions quickly, made helpful suggestions and helped us plan and cater for the event within our budget (with no requirement for a minimum spend). On the day, they were helpful and attentive to our guests and made the night a great event for all. There were approximately 40 people at our event on a Saturday afternoon/evening and it was perfect for this size group. I would highly recommend Refuge for this type of function, or for Friday evening...
Read moreThis is a modern taproom style bar right outside Subiaco Station. They have a fairly large indoor seating area and some seats outside as well.
Refuge offers a nice range of beers on tap, you can do cocktails, wine and choose from a selection of bar foods on offer as well.
We popped in recently and enjoyed a nice Bourbon Porter as well as a seasonal Choccy Bock, that was a a bit of a funky (in a good way) but overall nice beer to try if you fancy something a bit different.
The bar has nice environs and vibes, will make for a good meet up spot afterwork and place for a wind down round of drinks after a day of sightseeing in the city if you find yourself in the area. We had a good time here and would gladly return if staying in...
