I love a good hearty Aussie burger that’s made of super soft milk bun with chunky and juicy beef with beautiful grilled flavours. None of those Americans hamburger nonsense.
Accompanied it with shoestring fries that’s crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice potato flavour, simply seasoned with sea salt.
Sounds simple right? After trying about 30 or so burger joints and cafes that sell burgers, which includes some of the most popular ones in the area, it baffled me that not many could do it right. Often the case which there’s at least one or two ingredients were not right - the bun was not soft enough, the patties was too dry, not enough flavours, the fries were not crunchy or they were deep fried to completely lost their flavours. And don’t get me started with places that add chicken salt to their fries without telling their customers, you know I hate that.
Ardi’s Block To Grilled’s beef burger is hands down the best in the area with top quality meat cooked to perfection.
Their beef burgers were consistently on mark and ticked all the boxes from the last seven visits in the last two months. Read moreThis place is such a wonderful lucky find for us; a random wander from Redfern towards Surry Hills, to chance upon this small but really wonderful gem of a place.
We had initially had our minds on another place, but decided to give this place a shot for its warm welcoming atmosphere.
And ordered we did! A butchers platter to try different things, a fennel salad (that was really nice, sweet and delicious), and a bit of a mix-up of maple vegetables and sticky chicken.
Let's just say, everything was really gorgeous; the steak was done to a lovely medium rare, tender and succulent. We mixed it up with the herby sausages and crunchy schnitzel, and the tangy salad, along with the sweet sticky chicken which was an absolute delight. And of course, wine has to be part of such a great meal.
Regarding that mix-up, the staff were kind to say that they were happy to let us have it, even though I felt bad and wanted to pay for it since it was so good.. but needless to say, their hospitality and good food is an absolute recommend.

Read moreI was in surry hills when I decided it's time for lunch and googled the best burgers in Sydney and Ardi's Block to Grill comes up. So I go and see if it lives up to its stars. I meet this lovely butcher/chef and she was amazing. Both her and Ardi made my decision easy and so I grabbed the butchers burger and when I don't know if I will like it, i usually get chips. Atleast if I don't it the burger, I atleast have chips.
The lunch had arrived and you can see they feed you from the heart. Lucky I ordered a small chips and that was generous. My regret was that the first time I ordered chips with a burger and couldn't fit them in. The burger was amazing. Flavours out if this world. I was doubtful that the fennel would taste nice in my burger. The fennel just like Ardi said would be sweet and it was perfect. The patties was thick and dense but moist and juicy and packed full of flavour. There was a hint of zest or something that popped and I was amazed how it all went together. It was the perfect combo. Next time I'll try the cheese burger.
