I have nothing but positive things to say about Rough and Bare in St Leonards which I was SO happy to stumble across on my way home from Flannery’s. Every time I have been there the food has been absolutely INCREDIBLE (I tried to recreate the eggplant salad at home but it didn’t quite work out the same!). I am definitely a health ‘foodie’ and it makes me so happy to see that Rough & Bare takes nutrition seriously. Among many things, their commitment to use organic where possible (almost unheard of in Sydney) and use of additive free almond/coconut milks (instead of almond breeze etc), as well as quality gluten free bread is very impressive and reassuring to us health conscious customers!

However what prompted me to write this review is after my most recent visit today 31/7 at around 11am. I ordered the Mushroom & Eggs, and asked for it without the eggs as I vegan myself. After I had ordered (and some time went by) I realised I didn’t ask for it vegan friendly without ghee or butter. So I asked another lovely waiter, who went to the kitchen, however it has already been made. She kindly offered that the chef can remake the dish at no extra cost, which he did happily. I just wanted to express my appreciation for this gesture and the ongoing friendly customer service. I will be back very soon (I also have a free coffee to use, thanks to your awesome loyalty system!). THANKYOU ROUGH & BARE, you’re my new...

A nice hot Brothee and a Nourish Bowl have to be my favourites for breakfast. The quality is always there and I have never been disappointed. It was an awful stormy morning so not many people out. Anthony has regular offers, so I have $10 off my next meal. Looking forward to my next visit. Breakfast to use my $10 Easter Gift. Chorizo Omelette with Potato, Pecorino, Baby Watercress and Salsa Verde. A side of house made Sourdough Toast. Lots of flavour. Accompanied by an excellent Chai Latte. A meal to last the whole day. It got busy by mid morning and Lubo was kept busy waiting tables and entertaining young ones. A very pleasant morning. A birthday breakfast reward of Avocado Tartine. Avocado on Fermented Cashew Cheese on Sourdough Toast. With Target Beetroot, Baby Watercress and Salad Leaves. Toasted Sesame Seeds and a Pesto Oil deliver a meal with a range of delightful taste sensations. Very refreshing for a lighter...

It can be the worst brunch I’ve ever tried. First of all the coffee tastes so bad. I ordered the single origin espresso from Kenya which should taste very fruity but it did taste like decaf, very tight and dry. I know I’m a bit over sensitive about coffee because I’m a specialty barista so I just asked the waitress to take the coffee back without asking any change or refund. It was very nice that the barista asked me about the coffee during the meal but I don’t think the barista is professional enough that she even didn’t know what to get or what flavor should be in the coffee. And also the food, the pork belly and salmon was terrible. To be honest, if the price was not that high I would not expect that much. But I’d rather pay a bit more in other places to have the food which matches the price. I live in Crows Nest and it was the first time for me to be there. Definitely...
