I ordered a halloumi salad because it had a roasted pumpkin. When I got my dish, I realised that I didn’t have any pumpkins. So I told the staff that the dish didn’t have any pumpkin. Then she told me they didn’t have any pumpkins so didn’t put any. I was so confused because they didn’t tell me anything about that before and after they gave me the dish. Then that’s when she offered what I wanted to have instead. So I asked for an extra halloumi as she said I could ask for anything. A moment later, a chef (I assume) came out and explained that they were out of pumpkin today so he put other extra stuff already into the salad. So basically he was saying he can’t give me an extra halloumi. I don't mind whether they give me extra or not but I think it's a matter of their attitude. Firstly, I don’t understand why he didn’t tell me that they didn’t put one of the main ingredients. It was a $24 salad and what if I didn’t notice it? Were they planning to stay quiet? Secondly, I don’t even know what was added as extra. I wouldn’t even know if they’ve done it because they didn’t say anything until I brought it up. Very poor communication and service. I would say the food was great but the whole convo and their attitude...

Quite possibly the worst dinner I've had in a long time - Ordered the Katsu burger and a side of sweet chilli chicken wings. My mate separately ordered the pulled pork burger. My mates burger came out in about 5 minutes, which is fine as i assume the pulled pork is already cooked, and they need to fry the Katsu. But about 30 minutes later, i was still waiting for both the burger and the wings. Went to to the counter to check, and they said 'it's just getting plated now'.. so i went back to my table. 15 minutes later, frustrated, i walk back to the counter to see my burger and wings sitting on the counter waiting for the one barman/waiter to be available to serve it (he was taking drink orders at the bar). Food was served cold, no apologies were received, definitely not worth a 45 minute wait. I blame the fact that there was only one person on service, which is shocking for an establishment such...

I love this place. Really cool interior/ambience, has a real steam punk vibe that no other place in Surry Hills can attest to. Good beers on tap. Burger nights Wednesday is great, by far the best burgers in the area, and I go to almost all the burger nights around Surry hills. But don't go here after 7pm, they play live music which just ruins the place. It's far too small a place, with a bit of an echo. You can't even hear yourself think once they start playing, let alone have a conversation. This should be a bar where you go to chat with your friends and have a relaxed night, but whoever is in charge made the stupid decision to have live music and honestly it really frustrates me. I would come here a few times every week, but instead I always find myself inclined to head to the Dove & Olive up the road from here, where they are much more well accomadated to have a conversation...
