Sydney Central Railway Station
Sydney Central Railway Station is a grand and iconic hub that’s an essential part of the city’s transport network. With its historical architecture and central location, it’s not only functional but also visually impressive. However, my experience here had its ups and downs.
The station is undeniably busy, with trains coming and going constantly, catering to locals and tourists alike. It’s well-connected, making it easy to navigate the city and beyond. That said, the signage could be clearer in some areas, especially for first-time visitors who might find the layout a bit overwhelming.
While the station offers plenty of food options and convenience stores, the amenities could use some attention. The restrooms, in particular, felt outdated and weren’t as clean as you’d hope for in such a prominent location. It’s also worth noting that the station gets incredibly crowded during peak hours, which can make it hard to move around or find a spot to sit.

Station has been undergone major renovation and it looks way much better than it used to.
There are over 25 platforms to board from. Depending on where you want to go. For intercity or interstate trains normally board ground floor platforms. Going to airport usually board from platform 23. Metro is platform 26.
Staffs are most platforms for for convenience and peace of mind. There is no actual for food or drink however there are some vending machines, Shops and other quick food shops are available through out station.
Train ticket can be purchased at station including intercity or interstate trains fares. Machines for topping up opal card are available at station.
Getting around between platforms are quite seamless as lifts, stairs or escalators are available. They are within walking distance. Toilets are also available.
It is quite clean considering this is the largest station in the state. Go somewhere...
