In my ceaseless quest for culinary excellence, I have had the privilege of visiting many a fine establishment, each with their unique charm and allure. However, it is a rare and delightful occurrence when I stumble upon a place that transports me to another world altogether. Enter Chez Crix, a sanctuary of exceptional wine, intoxicating ambiance, and a touch of Parisian magic nestled within the bustling streets of Sydney.
From the moment I stepped into Chez Crix, I was enveloped in an atmosphere reminiscent of a moody, romantic Parisian evening. The dim lighting and sultry ambiance instantly melted away the urban cacophony outside, allowing me to fully immerse myself in this enchanting oasis.
The staff at Chez Crix are a breed apart – an assembly of knowledgeable and passionate connoisseurs who are eager to share their love for all things wine. With each recommendation, they demonstrate an uncanny ability to pinpoint the perfect varietal to suit my palate, encouraging me to venture into uncharted territory and discover new favorites.
As I sipped on my glass of fine wine, I couldn't resist the allure of their cocktail offerings. A testament to the skill and artistry of the mixologists behind the bar, Chez Crix's martini is a masterpiece in liquid form. Expertly crafted and exquisitely balanced, it is a drink that would make even James Bond himself envious.
Though I have yet to sample the culinary delights of Chez Crix's menu, the experience I had with their wines and cocktails alone has left an indelible impression on my gastronomic memory. I have no doubt that the food, when the time comes for me to indulge, will only serve to further elevate this already exceptional establishment.
In conclusion, Chez Crix is a treasure trove of sensory delights, masterfully weaving together the best of Paris and Sydney to create a truly unforgettable experience. Read moreMy partner, two friends and myself came here last night for dinner as we all live nearby and read great reviews about this place… I haven’t been this dissapointed with food quality in a very long time. The entrees were overpriced (had the pigs head, the terrine and the scallops) but all of them had great flavours, which excited us even more for our mains dishes. The french onion tart was bland and was plain, as well as the mussels. We ordered burgers also, which at $28 were no better than a McDonalds burger, no joke. Worst one was the steak and frites that we shared, juices from the steak flowing into the plate and making the frites soggy, steak was clearly not rested before served. It was tough and the quality was terrible. Also, burger, steak, mussels, ALL with frites on the side. I know its a french kitchen but maybe little bit more creativity to offer side dishes? The service was good, as the lady clearly was doing her best, but they were clearly understaffed as it was hard to get their attention. Bill came up to almost $100 a head, which was a rip off for the experience we had and the quality of food and will not go...
Read moreThe vibe in the restaurant is still just Old Pub Timber. Melon ball oysters and scallop appetisers were good. The steak frites was way too expensive to have a line of gristle across the top of every slice and to be served with fries but without a garden salad. And serving it without a steak knife? Sheesh. But I’m reserving my strongest criticism for the ravioli main - three medium sized ravioli for $30?! Maybe if they were filled with lobster and in a 1 hat restaurant I’d let it go, but in a pub with a big table of rowdy Waratahs fans at the next table? At a table without a table cloth much less good settings? Hell no. And we had to tell the waiter in cut-off denim shorts to turn his back instead of standing right over us watching to add a little more pressure while we went right past the tip option on the EFTPOS terminal. Next time we’ll stay downstairs and order the...
