We ate there after a cinema visit and to be honest it was very ordinary when compared to Thai restaurants near us. Quite expensive for simple food and the service was polite but sketchy. We asked for help because we needed Gluten free. They pointed to the Pad See Ew and the stir fry so we went with them as well as a Green Tofu/Vege curry. We got the Pad See Ew extremely quickly and it was pretty obvious they had left out the Soy Sauce to make it Gluten Free as they didn't have any gluten free soy sauce maybe? This made the dish pretty bland and poor tasting to be honest. The curry didn't come until very late, perhaps 15-20 minutes after and while it was OK, I had filled up on stir fry and super ordinary pad see yew so I ended up taking most of it home.
So super ordinary food that wasn't close to being worth what we paid, late food making the service super ordinary and well the atmosphere? Well it is not like they have made an effort with nice tables and chairs - it felt like a fast food joint and at these prices you expect more. There are four Thai restaurants in Summer Hill and Dulwich Hill and this was...
Read moreThis may be a little lengthy review. We walked past this new Thai joint by accident and were indecisive as we had a big group. It already had customers inside but didn't wait too long for our seats. We asked the owner to help with a selection of dishes and he was very accommodating to our taste buds. Must say, the selection was surprisingly good! Good flavours/spices and generous portion sizes. Ordered the usual Pad Thai, pad see ew and pineapple fried rice. Good thing they aren't so sweet like a food court Thai joint. Tried the pork neck skewers, grilled beef, fried barra, chicken skewers, pork belly, and even the tum tard seafood dish. (That'll blow your socks off!) Pa tong go too. Stand outs for me was their Khao soy curry chicken dish and their fried banana dish surprisingly!! Id go back for them two dishes, by myself. (Owner also made us a special green mango salad with soft shell crab.) Think I missed some other dishes because we all shared, but Burwood was missing a good quality Thai place, until now. Chilli Basil - Remember me!, as I'm going to come back and test your kitchen and try out your...
Read moreCame in for dinner and ordered the pad see ew, sweet and sour fried fish, roasted pork belly with Chinese broccoli, papaya salad and massaman curry. Was actually very pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. The fish had great texture and perfect balance of flavours. The roasted pork belly was fantastic (great taste and texture), papaya salad and massaman curry were also very nice. Pad see ew was quite ordinary (didn’t really see much meat in it at all and the flavour was very mild). Customer service was great although our fish was accidentally handed to another table so we had to wait a bit longer for a new one to be prepared (although the staff advised us of this issue and was transparent with the error on their part which was fine). We will definitely come here again. The ordering system was great and easy to navigate. The restaurant layout was nice also and resembled sitting in a tuktuk. Located near Mr Stonebowl on...
