I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at Chulo Restaurant was truly awful and deserves to be shared. If you’re someone who enjoys flavourful, authentic, well-balanced food, this place will be a massive letdown.
I ordered expecting at least a hint of spice or seasoning—especially from a restaurant that claims to represent vibrant cuisine. Instead, I was served a completely bland, tasteless dish that had zero character. When a restaurant says “no spicy,” I don’t expect them to serve boiled, lifeless food with no flavour at all. There’s a difference between “mild” and “utterly boring,” and Chulo clearly doesn’t understand that.
It felt like they had completely forgotten salt, spices, herbs—anything that makes food remotely enjoyable. It was like eating hospital food on a bad day. I had a few bites and couldn’t continue. It was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
To make matters worse, the staff didn’t seem particularly bothered when I politely raised my concerns. No apology, no effort to fix the issue, no care about customer satisfaction. Just shrugged it off like it was normal.
If you’re looking for flavour, value, or even basic decency in taste, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. There are plenty of better options out there. This was a waste of money and time, and I left both hungry and disappointed.
Chulo seriously needs to rethink its recipes, its approach to flavour, and its attitude...

Today, me and my friend went to Chulo Sydney, Townhall after college to have some snacks. We ordered Veg Pakoda, Panipuri, and Veg Steamed Spicy Momo. The experience was honestly very disappointing.
Panipuri was not fresh and didn’t taste good.
Pakora was bland and greasy – I would rate it 1/5.
Veg momo started off fine, but then we had a horrifying experience. While eating, my friend found a fingernail inside the momo. We immediately complained to the waitress, but she didn’t say anything – no apology, no explanation. She just took the plate and walked away without a word.
Later, when we went to the counter to pay, we expected at least a sincere apology, but all she said was a casual “sorry” without any emotion. No manager came to speak to us either.
This was extremely unhygienic, unprofessional, and embarrassing, especially coming from a Nepalese restaurant. It’s sad to see such poor customer service and lack of responsibility. We should’ve taken a photo of the fingernail but unfortunately, we forgot in the moment.
We were honestly shocked and disappointed. Definitely not...
Read moreI recently had the displeasure of dining at a restaurant that left a lot to be desired. The experience was marred by an excessively long wait time for our food, coupled with truly abysmal customer service from our waiter.
The wait time for our food was nothing short of unacceptable. We waited for over an hour before our meals finally arrived at the table, which was incredibly frustrating. What was even more frustrating was that our waiter failed to provide any explanation for the delay. Despite our repeated inquiries, she simply shrugged and said that the food would be ready "soon."
To make matters worse, the customer service we received from our waiter was incredibly poor. She was unresponsive to our requests, and seemed completely disinterested in our satisfaction as diners. When we expressed our frustration with the long wait time, she merely offered a half-hearted apology and then disappeared for an extended period of time.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a quality...
