I recently had the opportunity to try the chicken biryani at Deccan Flavours in Lakemba, Sydney. The ambiance was modest, offering a no-frills setting that focused on the culinary experience.

When the biryani arrived, I was pleased to see a generous portion served piping hot. The aroma alone was enticing, and it certainly lived up to the promise of Deccan flavors. The food was delicious, but the service was disappointingly rude without reason. I ordered chicken 65 and biryani rice, but was told I couldn't order plain biryani rice even though it was on the wall menu. I was informed that only chicken or mutton biryani was available, which I found very weird.

The lady server then said, “I can give you 2 naan”, it implied they might be complimentary. I asked whether it’s free or not, her response was shockingly loud and negative, saying “NOO!!”

Furthermore, there was a tea thermos not listed on the wall menu, leading us to assume it was complimentary, as is customary in many restaurants. It turned out to be $3 per small cup. When I mentioned my assumption during payment, her response was irritable, stating, "Just because there’s no price on the wall doesn’t mean it’s free! It’s the first time someone has thought the tea was complimentary."
