Eggshell Cafe — Restaurant in Sydney

I had hesitation going into this having read some reviews. But at the same time being a fellow service industry worker, I understand how busy and therefore hectic things can get so occasional bad reviews are sometimes inevitable.

I sat in the outdoor area and I ordered a small hot chocolate and bacon and egg roll. Food came quickly, which was nice. Then after some time I was wondering why my coffee hadn't arrived, that was when I saw my coat and my bag on the chair got super wet, I was like oh no. Did the umbrella have a hole or something? And then I glanced at the floor, there was a paper cup on the ground, completely upside down. Liquid was everywhere. It was my hot chocolate.

I was like, how did this happen? This table is made of steel and was very steady, wouldn't move even when I tried shaking it. I was sure I did not make any sudden movements, what knocked over the hot chocolate? I didn't see anyone nearby other than the server who approached me with the food. My conclusion unfortunately, was maybe that the server who was lovely btw, either left the hot chocolate by the edge of the table and it fell to the ground, or worse, knocked over the hot chocolate herself.

After finishing my food, I told the server that the hot chocolate was knocked over, she told me to not worry about it. Seeing she didn't say anything else, I left.

It was very unfortunate. I wish I had better experience but it was what it was.

(Edit: After seeing the owner's reply, I did recall seeing some birds fly around in proximity. Hopefully the bird problem gets solved soon enough. I acknowledged I did not communicate to the server clearly what happened, as I was in a foul mood at the time. Based on this reply I would at least bump the service rating to 4.5. Thanks...

Eggshell Cafe has completely won me over—not only with its warm and inviting atmosphere, but with its thoughtful selection of lifestyle products and genuinely delicious menu offerings. I originally popped in for a coffee, but quickly discovered that this place is so much more than your average cafe.

First off, the beanies. I wasn’t expecting to find such high-quality apparel in a cafe, but Eggshell’s beanies are a standout. You can tell a lot of care went into choosing or designing them; they’re the kind of piece you’ll reach for again and again. Now, onto the smoothies—wow. These are hands-down some of the best smoothies I’ve had. Each one is fresh, vibrant, and balanced—never too sweet or too heavy. Whether you go for a green blend, a berry-packed option, or something tropical, the flavors are always bright and refreshing. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and it feels good knowing you’re fueling your body with something wholesome.

What makes Eggshell Cafe special is the way it blends quality, creativity, and community into everything it offers. I can see why this Cafe gets mixed reviews. I ordered to sit down outside on the available tables and Chairs in the sun. The Coffee was OK 3/5 which I didn't finish and the raisin toast was warm bread which I didn't eat 1/5. However, the coffee and food could have been 5/5 and even though I tried to ignore how dirty this place was, it got to me in the end and I couldn't drink/eat my order. I understand it's a Sunday and maybe a little more laid back but the chap who served me was very untidy and was wiping his hands on his t-shirt and then using them to make orders. I didn't look at the state of the tables before I ordered, but when I went to sit down, not one of them was clean several had cigarette butts stuck in the table grooves and a number of the Chairs had either bits of food or bird droppings on them. It's a shame to post this as the Cafe is in an excellent location and prices are reasonable. If you can ignore how dirty the Cafe is then go for it, but, if hygiene is important to you, there will be far...
