Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience at Gloria Jeanās Strathfield. My friends and I ordered a berry chiller, only to find a hard plastic piece insideāsomething that could have been dangerous if swallowed. At first, I thought it was glass, which was alarming. When I showed it to the staff member, I expected immediate concern, an apology, or at least some acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation. Instead, she casually dismissed it, saying it was ājust plasticāāas if that made it acceptable.
What made it worse was the lack of professionalism. There was no immediate offer of a refund or even a proper apology. Instead, the staff simply started making another drink, expecting us to trust them again. We had to insist on a refund, and even then, it felt like we were being done a favor rather than receiving a basic customer service response. It was frustrating and unacceptable, especially considering we had traveled back from uni just for this.
To make matters worse, I reached out to their customer service team, hoping for a more responsible and professional response. Unfortunately, I was met with a generic email stating that their āinvestigationā found no serious concerns and that this was an āisolated incident.ā They then offered me a free drink as a goodwill gestureāas if that would erase the fact that they failed to take a basic food safety issue seriously.
This experience has completely eroded my trust in Gloria Jeanās Strathfield. Instead of acknowledging their mistake and taking real accountability, they tried to downplay the issue and offer a band-aid solution. Food safety and customer service should be priorities, yet both were severely lacking in this situation.
