Have had Hiroba many numerous times throughout the years and recently visited again.

I ordered the Sakura deluxe bento box and like always, they give you the miso soup first, soon after they've taken your order. The only issue is that the bento box takes a generous 20 minutes to come out and by then, your miso soup is cold.

Another issue is that their portions are really small. In the bento box, there's teriyaki chicken that you eat with rice but there's only 4 pieces of chicken. If I ordered an eel bento box then I would maybe be more understanding of the small number of pieces but it was teriyaki chicken. Why are they being stingy with teriyaki chicken???????

Quality and freshness of the sashimi and sushi is what you can generally expect from a small sushi place. Nothing extraordinary.

As another review said, hiroba is a place where you go when other places are packed and you can't be...

Tucked just off the main street, Hiroba absolutely blew me away. We ordered the takoyaki (hands down the best I’ve had in Sydney—crispy outside, gooey centre, actual octopus), the crab croquette (crispy, creamy and a bit of a sleeper hit), the chicken katsu, and the Sakura box… and honestly, every single thing slapped. Like genuinely as good as food I’ve had in Japan.

The vibes are warm and low-key, the staff were so lovely and made the whole experience feel kind of homey—like being looked after by someone who’s been doing this for years and still cares. The sashimi was buttery and fresh, and the bento box was stacked. Tempura was light and crisp, nothing greasy. All up it was $90 for two people including drinks (a Sprite and an Asahi), and we left full, happy, and already planning to come back. If you’re craving Japanese food that’s actually authentic and made with love—this...

We waited over an hour for our food. Everyone that came after us received their food before us - I assume because they spoke to the workers in korean and knew each other. Weird because it’s apparently a Japanese restaurant but everyone is Korean... OK.

By the time we got our food, the table next to us had been turned over twice with new customers. The food portion was SO small and it was very expensive for what we received. E. G. I paid $20 for a dinner box that featured 6 tiny pieces of AVOCADO sushi, ONE piece of tofu, three VEGETABLE tempura pieces and 2 random watermelon slices. Probably costed them $2 to make. What a joke.

Very disappointing experience and we were NOT offered an apology or explanation or compensation for our wasted time and money. Never again. Would not...

The best Japanese food I've had, although to be honest I am not sure if it's actually authentic but looked like so I presume it is. They have a variety in sushi and other foods including noodles and grilled food also hotpot. The menu looks amazing and interesting u feel like ordering everything, we ordered grilled salmon and scallops sushi and udon noodles Japanese style with miso soup and veggies. The taste was great I still remember the flavor, we also had prawn gyoza much recommended. The service was very good although we reached when they were almost closing but very nice people. Qudos to the chef. They have a variety of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Must try place next to strathfield station plaza side exit. Well done guys .

Even though we arrived a bit late, around 8:20 PM with the restaurant closing at 9 PM, we still managed to have a truly amazing and comforting dinner. The staff were fantastic, allowing us to dine in despite the late hour. We ordered a delicious spread: grilled scallops, grilled salmon, flavourful prawn gyoza, and a warming vegetable Udon, all accompanied by some beers. Every dish was incredibly comforting and absolutely delicious! While our late arrival meant we didn't get to explore as much of the menu as we would have liked, we're definitely looking forward to visiting again to try more of their offerings. If you're a fan of dumplings and sushi-style food, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try! ❤️
