2nd Review:

Well done Humphries. Enjoyed a much-improved 2nd visit to Humpries.

The was food excellent again but this time the service was much better with none of the previous issues mentioned below.

All dished were delicious and well presented. If you're in the area and want a special dining experience with excellent food this the place to go.

Recommend for dessert the "Hatched" for a bit of fun and fanciness.

1st review Being a Hurstville local I was eager try Humprey’s and went for Sunday lunch. While the venue and food are good the service was a bit of a letdown.

Admittedly, in isolation these incidents are relatively minor but added all up it’s not good. Especially, for a venue that is trying to play in the elevated/premium space, where the quality of service has to match the high quality of food.

The main things were: Waited 45-50 mins for the food. 1 starter, 3 mains, 1 kids pasta. Was told the order didn’t make it to the kitchen (assuming linked to a failed bar tab). Ordered the burger but got standard fries, not the triple cooked chips. Forgot the side on the kid's meal. Had to follow up a drink order 3 times. When it finally came out an hour after ordering they had the drink wrong. Got rained on due to a gap in the awning. The table, chairs and floors got drenched. I was lucky not to be sitting at the table at that exact moment. Obviously, the weather can't be helped but when bistro dinners are asked to sit outdoors it’s a problem. Ordered another item and paid at the bar but was told 10min later they didn’t have what I ordered. Got a cheaper item but was not offered the refund for the price difference. To be fair the price difference was so minimal and not worth commenting but this is about the service not money. No Soy milk for coffee.

Despite the above the staff were trying and were very polite and maybe I just went on a bad day.

I spoke to the floor manager about above and even said they should have refunded the difference (I just wanted to see what he would do) The response, while polite, was underwhelming.

It’s a nice place but hopefully the service catches up...

First time visiting for dinner. We happened to see Theo as we reached the top of the stairs and he was very welcoming and he let us know the options available. He was very pleasant and polite and Theo also served me at the bar and again provided great service and I let him know this. We had steak frittes and the Chicken Jalapeño Salad which were both delicious. On the pub side you can order with the QR code on the table or grab a menu. The menus were behind the lectern on the bar and in trying to reach one the greeter stepped back and bumped into me. As I saw him stepping back I said sorry I’m behind you and too late bumps into me. No mention of sorry or are you okay. I then came back to the bar to order and was standing on the kitchen side of the bar near a woman who was being served and close to beer taps. The same greeter said you need to move over there gesturing towards the other end of the bar. I’m not sure why I couldn’t stand where I was since there was already a lady being served? Whilst waiting I suggested to him that perhaps they could put a sign there letting people know to move up. His response - thank you and turned away. Felt dismissed. Once I ordered I walked by him and said this is my first time here and I didn’t appreciate the way he spoke and he said whatever you like!! I mentioned to him that I was providing feedback and I didn’t think he cared to hear and then he says sorry I didn’t want them (the bar staff) not to see you, (maybe he could have explained this initially) yet there was another lady being served where I was standing. He was quite abrupt and dismissive and put a dampener...

This was the second time we’ve visited this place for dinner since we’ve moved into the area and have experienced the same issues.

The only positives things I can say about this this place was the bread and buratta as entrees were nice plus this lady named Maria who initially told us it was fully booked ran outside to find us and bring us back in as someone had canceled straight after we left which I thought was excellent service, however unfortunately that’s were the positives end.

The calcio e Pepe was terrible, pasta not cooked al dente and not enough white sauce, actually no sauce and flavour. The hot chips were cold and stale. We were never offered any water on our table and we had been sitting there for 2 hours. I must say the worst part are the cocktails. We ordered two cocktails and they would have to be the worst I’ve ever tried. The glasses are so big that the measurements are off which make the drinks extremely watered down. When we spoke to staff they looked at us like we were talking another language and made us feel stupid. Please if you’re going to charge over $20 for a cocktail, please hire proper bartenders and learn how to make them. We aren’t stupid and know what good looks and taste like.

This place is extremely pricey for a local / suburban venue and for the price, you would expect the quality to be much better. I can get much better quality in the city for the same price.

We won’t...

A Rollercoaster of Sprinklers and Sips! What a wild ride at Humphrey's! 🎢 From a surprise sprinkler shower to complimentary drinks, this place had us laughing and scratching our heads. Highlights: 🌟 The food was a flavor explosion! Dry aged burger, Southern fried Quail, croquettes, salad and porterhouse steak – our taste buds had a party. 🍹 Shoutout to the fantastic service inside! The manager and staff went above and beyond after the sprinkler incident, treating us like VIPs with complimentary drinks. Low Lights: 🚪 Mr. Pretentious at the door was like a walking eye roll. He couldn't hear us over his own confidence. 🌬️ We got Sat outside due to our online booking mix up and asked to move inside, and got ignored by Mr pretentious! The heaters turned into accidental sprinklers and set off the alarm, giving us a taste of the great outdoors 😂. We Finally got moved inside, but the food needed a redo. 💸 Promised a refund, but our wallets are still waiting. On the upside, free drinks washed down the disappointment. 👶 Cut them some slack; they're the new kids on the block. Staff finding their feet – literally, with sprinklers involved. In conclusion, Humphrey's is like a sitcom pilot – some hiccups, plenty of laughs, and a cliffhanger refund. We'll be back for the sequel, armed with raincoats and high hopes! ☔🍽️🍸

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a hidden gem in Hurstville, and it's safe to say that this spot is a game-changer for the local food scene. The moment I walked in, the design struck me as a perfect blend of chic and laid-back vibes. The ambiance was just what Hurstville needed—a comfortable, stylish haven. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. It was a culinary delight! Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors that danced on my taste buds. From the appetizers to the dessert, every bite was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to excellence. Equally impressive was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and seemed genuinely passionate about ensuring a memorable dining experience. They were quick with recommendations and accommodated every request with a smile, adding a personal touch that elevated the entire evening. This restaurant has nailed the art of creating an atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. It's the kind of place where you can savor your meal, engage in conversation without shouting, and truly unwind. It's exactly what Hurstville deserves—a culinary haven with a heartwarming ambiance that makes every visit special. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't be disappointed!

What a great restaurant in the heart of Hurstville. It’s located in the newest building right beside the station so you can come via train or park in Westfields and walk across. The restaurant is beautifully laid out. The menu has everything and is laid out for every dietary requirement. We had the banquet option which comes in at $150 pp and although the almighty tomahawk is on the menu we also had a vegan guest which the restaurant adhered to so they could also enjoy the Banquet Feast. The food is next level fresh and plentiful and really is worth the money it commands. Definately start the evening with a cocktail the house cocktails are superb. We had several. The wine list is also plentiful. If we had to pick at something the music was slightly too loud which affected the beautiful ambiance the restaurant is creating. But then, we were also pretty loud after a few of the yummy cocktails. Theo and his staff are very attentive and the chefs attention to detail with the food definately garnishes the attention it deserves. I highly recommend this establishment and look forward to coming back to try the other menu options.
