Huxtaburger Redfern — Restaurant in Sydney

Food good, restaurant itself and service needs work. Firstly, chips are crisp, nicely fried, happy chappy. Burgers taste good, although the yellow artificially sauce that looks like nothing can stop it from oozing down the side of your burger could be cool for the instagram crowd, or off-putting for some, I'm somewhere inbetween. But now, facilities- the big entry door needs oiling and fixing, it is heavily scrapy and no idea why something so simple is an issue. The napkins were empty on my table, and when I asked for napkins the staff member went to the next table and used his gloved hands to reach into the dispenser and pull some out and so gave me napkins with sauce and whatever randomness on it, gross - I have a picture for proof but I'll refrain from posting. And despite being open they were mopping most of the store and leaving a wet floor. There's an area just outside the where staff bring out food from the kitchen where there's raised circles on the floor to help prevent slipping but that mopping led to a waitress walking normally and slipping on those mopped raised circles through no fault of her kwn and could've easily bumped her head if she hadn't grabbed on quickly, it was so near me that I'd hate to imagine that it could have been me and I might’ve not reacted so well - frankly it was dangerous. I like the later hours compared to other restaurants. Based on the food, I would've been back. But, based on the gross napkin violation and the potential hazard I really would not come back, uncared for door, basic details done wrong, it's not...

Was very disappointed in the meal. The lady serving attitude wasn't good for someone who is supposed to be greeting customers

I got the theo, small fries and strawberry shake. I think everything about the burger was way overcooked

The buns were left on the grill way too long, so biting into it was harder than it should be. The buns should only be toasted so it doesnt get soggy, not so its crunchy hard

The bacon was rock hard, like not burnt, but dry and didn't have any saltiness

The two patties seem like they weren't seasoned at all, it just tasted like meat.

Overall I didn't like the burger not because it tasted bad, but because it had no flavour profile or delicious taste, that the good burgers have

The shake was even more disappointing, I was expecting a strawberry milkshake of strawberries (real/syrup), ice cream and milk. The shake here tasted like I was just drinking strawberry puree that was just thawed. I thought it was a joke they gave me a straw to use, when you couldn't even drink out of it since the shake was so thick. I had to drink the shake like i was drinking a cup of water

The fries were the only saving grace, they were crunchy, but they reminded me of the chips you get from Strathfield train station, where they keep repeatedly deep frying old chips that never got sold just so you don't throw them away. I don't have a problem eating chips like that, but I'd expect better from a burger chain that has multiple stores

The staff’s attitude was extremely rude. This morning, I went there to buy chicken set, but the staff member kept arranging drinks and refused to prepare the chicken. As a result, I ran out of time and missed the train. When he did not start to prepare the chicken, I requested a refund, but the staff member stalled for about twenty minutes and refused, claiming he didn’t know the EFTPOS pin and therefore could not process the refund. He also said the store did not have enough cash, so he refused to refund me in cash.

I suggested he write a note authorizing another staff member to process the refund later, but he refused that as well. Eventually, another kind customer offered to help me, but the staff member stopped the customer from assisting. After that, he agreed to refund me.

He consistently refused to refund me in cash, but after arguing for twenty minutes, he finally refunded me in cash, which clearly shows that the store had sufficient cash available. His earlier claim of insufficient cash was simply a lie.

Because the staff member refused to prepare the chicken and delayed the refund for so long, I missed the scheduled train. I am extremely disappointed and angry about this experience.
