the bartenders don’t like serving people on a sunday or people that come in groups of more than 1, can’t imagine how upset the bosses would be knowing their staff had to work for their wages. In the staff’s words “we don’t like people coming in without a booking and giving us a bad name”. The bar was empty and our quiet group (of 10) just wanted a beer, which took 2 seconds to pour. I’ve never been required to book to have a beer, especially at 3pm on a sunday in an empty bar. When I worked in a bar I can guarantee I would have been fired on the spot by my mortified boss if I had a whinge to the customers about doing my job when I’d otherwise be twiddling my thumbs. When members of the group were approached many times by a customer and verbally abused, when simply minding our own business, about our bodies and smells staff said “oh well she’s a regular and we don’t like big groups” not before the shabby looking bartender swore at our group for politely asking her to keep her rude comments to herself. Don’t come unless you like rude comments being made about your race or told you’re too big for their liking (as a size 8). A bad look on not only the staff but the customer base they defend, it’s not a classy or...
Read moreHugely disappointed with the actions undertaken by security; after reading other reviews, I can see that this is a recurring issue.
The other night, I was called by a friend who had been overserved and became ill in the bathroom. Security became involved and aggressively removed her, leaving her stranded on the street clearly unwell and in need of help. It goes without saying that this is dangerous for any young woman late at night, especially one who was in the bathroom and not causing harm or injury to other patrons. I’ve worked in the liquor industry for years and this is outside the norm IMO: usually bars will assist the person in getting home safely, eg. Calling a cab or taxi. There are also specific ways to engage with a person who is intoxicated that don’t escalate already frustrating or unpleasant situations. Obviously the venue has the right to deny service and request people leave premises: my issue is that security seems woefully unprepared to deal with these situations, and seem to have a pattern of aggressive or disrespectful conduct against patrons (particularly women and POC if the other reviews are to...
Read moreI pass this place almost daily and was here for the first time last night with friends. Tilly was doing a great job of hosting Sunday's karaoke night with some great talent belting out hits and classics - then Tilly sang and she was awesome too - so if you've got some pipes on you, definitely check it out. My big gripe with this place was with the manner in which both Huss and Adam (apparently both managers) handled a debacle around the food. I placed a pizza order at about 8.30pm. 20 mins pass, 25 mins pass and at 30 mins I thought I'd follow up the order only to be told some rubbish about the paper tickets not printing (presumably) in the kitchen and then being told the kitchen had closed. Obviously as a bare minimum, they were obligated to refund the cost of the pizza. Given their error I requested a refund of my wine which both Adam and Huss refused to entertain. I know this is all 'first world problem' stuff but to Adam and Huss - you had a chance to turn a customer issue caused by you / your kitchen into a win for you but you didn't and as a result I won't be rushing back - please do better...
