I ordered one of the Lily's crepes ($16) as I have been craving for crepes since Uncle Tetsu stopped selling crepes. Quite disappointed with its quality overall so won't be coming back as I have better options for dessert around me. I still give a 2 star because it wasn't terrible enough for me to not finish it. Some of the many reasons for a low rating include: 1) the ice cream flavour is very weak, and the ice cream is not creamy at all - kind of like sorbet with the texture of ice flakes but with milk and not sour, in short, it was quite watered down (I knew that when trying the flavour but I was hopeful for the crepe); 2) the crepe was perhaps a little too thin that there were a few gaps, causing the sauce to flow everywhere (it was okay when I was holding the wrapping but not when I try to eat the end but); 3) the portion size is small - she widened the top so it looks bigger on top and so she can fit the ice cream in (I guess?) & the strawberries are the tiny size strawberries (the tallest was no more than 2.5cm tall, most shorter) cut up, she put in about 5 pieces (so small that I could only find 2 when eating & the total amount of red bean paste was a ball about the diameter of a 20 cent coin & the ice cream scoop was also small but I have seen smaller so I will let that slide; 4) the mochi was soft on the outside and hard on the inside, this is the type of mochi that is supposed to be chewy (that means they have been kept in the fridge and used straight from the fridge); 5) the two pieces of mandarin were the ones from the cans/jars, totally unnecessary as it did not add any flavour (other than the taste of syrup) or value. I think I have shared enough...I was going to comment on the lack of smiles and warmth while being served, but the food itself has already...
Read moreNice, fresh and clean-looking location that sells ice cream and crepes (with ice cream). Ice cream is of decent quality— highly rate the sesame, which I tried but didn't end up getting.
The prices are pretty arbitrary: $6 for 1 or $7 for 2...
We all know nobody's going to get a single scoop.
But for what it's worth—which is quite a lot considering it's an ice cream shop - the ice cream is pretty good and on that level I would recommend this place.
What was really unfortunate, other than "strachatella" or the fact that the crepe menu has an offering that says "tira-misu" while spelling it "tiramisu" in the description is the fact that the owners/managers/whoever have fundamentally let down their staff.
To say that the young lady was struggling to make the crepes would be an understatement. Crepes were ripped, required patching, or in some instances had to be totally scrapped. It was painful to watch, and I felt bad for her. But I don't blame a high schooler for underperforming when she was clearly trying her best to do something she hasn't fully grasped, all while under the pressure of multiple customers watching every move. Props to her for keeping her composure throughout.
The fault here lies entirely in management for not taking the time or resources to properly training their staff before putting them on the floor and charging $16 for a crepe that still ended up a bit raw in the end. These are not professional chefs you're hiring you need to adequately train them for the job, it's not on them to magically know how to make crepes.
I'll try it again at some point in the future, I hope the owners take this review into account. I would be more than happy to update this review and to recommend it to other people but management needs to take...
Read moreI have passed by this place a few times and decided to give this place a go with the promotion of buy 1 crepe and have 1 free. Staff were alright and in fact were very patient with the different queries other patrons had. But as there were only 2 staff for the night crowd on a Thursday night, tables were not necessarily cleaned or wiped down.
For some reason, the crepe batter didnt taste as tasty as what I have had in comparison to some of the French crepe places. For the first one, I ordered the peanut butter nutella option. It was a good balance in the mix for salted peanut butter and Nutella. Even better was the staff had filled the crepe with sufficient filling. Unfortunately, my second order of matcha strawberries felt like a mistake. There was hardly any matcha sauce and the fresh strawberries were very tiny in portion. In fact, when comparing weight wise between the 2 crepe orders, the peanut butter Nutella one was more than double the weight of the strawberry matcha. I really felt like it was a regret choice given the portion of the strawberry matcha. Besides that, the matcha flavour was so mild that it hardly any matcha flavour. Though as it was almost a non-existent amount with very little strawberries, it is possible the flavour of matcha couldnt come through. Wish I had taken a photo.
I probably may come back again for the peanut butter Nutella crepe and to try the ice cream. But never ever will i order what felt like a pitiful portion serving of strawberry...
