It’s a weeknight and we were seated straight away as we were a party of two. The restaurant was already packed with other diners so it’s expected that the wait time was going to be a bit long! While we waited we ordered young coconut juices to hydrate ourselves. As soon as the first dish came out, everything else did which was great - We ordered lemongrass beef wrapped in betel leaf (bo la lot), bun cha (grilled pork with spring rolls and vermicelli with dipping sauce) and spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue). The bo la lot was flavourful and had a lot of lemongrass in it which I liked. The nước cham (dipping sauce) was a little bland but I fully understand it was catered for western palates who can’t handle the strong umami taste of fish sauce. Bo la lot generally tastes better with fermented shrimp sauce too, so I’d recommend this to those are on the adventurous side. The bun cha was delicious. The grilled pork had a nice charred flavour especially when it’s marinating itself in the dipping sauce. The vermicelli and spring rolls also tasted great when dipping in the same sauce. And lastly the mildly spiced bun bo hue - It had the right amount of a spice a generous meat toppings. The broth was spectacular and full of flavour. The noodles were thick and cooked perfectly. This restaurant was probably the closest to having authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in Chatswood. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals leaving with satisfied bellies. Staff were friendly, ensuring that everyone’s meals were coming out in a timely manner, the vibe was great too. Definitely recommend this place to those that are easing their way into amplifying their tastebuds.

I was passing through An viet today and I was a regular customer here before, food was great. The free pho soup for students convinced me to have lunch as I was getting my year 7 daughter school shoes. We entered the restaurant and I asked about the student offer and I was questioned and the rude waiter wanted to see my daughter's ID and I replied to him, If she has an ID then she's not a child. I had to convince him and show her enrolment on the email. So we ended up with noodles and bit of meat on it but it is nothing like they have advertised. (See photos) The spring roll was so oily and didn't look like on the photo of their menu. So we decided to just give it away to the homeless person outside. We packed the spring rolls to take away and I walked to the cahier to pay the bill and then I was getting charged anyway for the student lunch that was very unpresentable. They said that I had to pay cash where it was never mentioned on the ad or prior to ordering.. So frustrating.. The food wasn't great and the service was horrible. Staff was rude. If you like average quality food and rude staff. I would recommend this restaurant. If you want good quality food and experience, this is not the place to be..

An Viet is amongst the few Vietnamese restaurants in Chatswood. Located conveniently in the vicinity of Westfield Chatswood and as such, easily accessible by bus, train or metro. My highlights and tips: - They have both indoor and outdoor seatings. - The staff are ok, not very attentive but if you are able catch their attention, they will attend to the request. - Food wise, ok flavours but left me desiring more than what they had served. It was ok portion size. Whilst I enjoyed the sliced pork including the seasoning they used, the rice roll had quite a strong flavour and it tasted similar to those that I have gotten from the Asian grocery stores as oppose to something that was freshly made in store. As for the lemongrass chicken, while portion wise was ok, the amount of lemongrass seasoning was very light in flavour. In fact, this place was probably the lightest in lemongrass flavouring compared to many of the other vietnamese restaurants I have tried in Sydney. - Ambience is pretty nice within the restaurant. The earthy colours created a warm vibe. - The restaurant accepts both cash and card. It is a relatively decent Vietnamese restaurant. Could be a place to try if you haven't been.

Cockrach is crawling at the table next to my plate while we are eating 🤮

Absolutely a shocking experience while having dinner with my friends at An Viet Chatswood. We saw a tiny 1.5-2cm cockroach running across the table while we eat. I dont normally leave a review but given the seriousness, I feel it is important to raise it.

We alerted the staff who admitted the existence of cockroach. She apologised many times and convinced us that the roach is not from the food but from somewhere around the table where we sit. She also said they are FIXING this problem which implies that they aware of the problem but yet still operate and offer tables to customers! Should not this problem be fixed first and foremost before welcoming any customers? It is not hygenic and who knows there maybe infestation of roaches which compromise the hygiene of the food and health of customers!

We sat at the corner, I think table no.1. The lady offered a free meal but my friend decided to pay the bill. Regardless, the damage has been done! We left as soon as possible - didnt even have chance to take a photo as evidence but cockroach was running on the floor when we left.

Definitely not coming back … We really hope for a restaurant that has so many customers, they should have done a right thing to exterminate cockroaches as soon as they aware of...
