It all started off so promising and the hope before the reality was the absolute best part cause it was all down hill from there, well almost all. To keep it short and sweet I'll just say that the arancini was very bland and the mayonnaise sauce was not the right sauce to go with this. Everything was just steeped in fat and it seems that their oil was not hot enough because nothing was actually crispy. We actually couldn't even eat the calamari as it was rubbery and the batter was still just mush, pretty bad. We actually sent it back. The veal was flavorless and also mushy but the potatoes that came with the veal were delicious. The clam fetichini also has good flavor but the pasta was so overcook I actually couldn't even get it to stay on my fork. The noodles were pure white because they were so water logged and it ruined the dish. The Italian salad was the best part for me due to the dressing however it was only a bowl.of rocket with the dressing which was disappointing. We also never recieved the olives that we ordered and we were still charged full price for our calamari. We never had the same person come to our table twice which meant that no one knew what we had ordered. In all very disappointed, we hardly ever have time to go out for a nice dinner alone and this was an...
Read moreToday Made in Italy was giving out free lunchtime Pizza so I thought I would take the opportunity to test out and see how it stands up.
Let’s start with the size, it’s a normal lunch size pizza, a little bigger I think than the major pizza chain offerings. The base is thin and crispy, so holds up to the one-hand test. The pizza sauce flavour is fresh (normal kind of tinned tomato base), not the tomato paste base that others offer. The cheese looks to be shredded pizza with a small cheese pull, so without the traditional fior di latte mozzarella or mozzarella di bufala it is workable but average. This version doesn’t seem to have the traditional basil leaf inclusion for a margherita but ‘hey’, they were free. Personal preference is that the base is a bit softer and chewier and the inclusion of at least a little bit of basil and/or traditional mozzarella would have elevated it to a more authentic standard. Overall it was tasty, warm, greasy and tomato-y, which are all things you look for in a pizza. It definitely sits above the offerings from the major pizza chains but didn’t quite get to the level of traditional authentic Italian. I think a...
Read moreBAD BAD BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am writing this to share my First time experience of Made in Italy restaurant 55 Miller street Pyrmont Sydney. Last night I took my girlfriend out for dinner to Made in Italy restaurant. We ordered a pizza and a pasta and waited eagerly. After it was served we found a hair in the pasta. We did what a normal person would do in that case . I, informed the staff about it and she took the pasta back in to the kitchen. However, after a minute or two one of the staff members approached me ,with a hair displayed on a white plate. He then said the hair was ours and not their fault and left the plate on the table right next to my pizza, while I was still eating .I then went up to the counter to talk to with the senior management about the issue. After listening, they advised me I should have chucked the hair and continue eating, as it was not a big issue. They further argued and wanted us to pay for the pasta instead of being apologetic about the situation and ruining our Saturday...
