Whenever we try a new restaurant, we try many dishes to find that authentic taste. Tonight was no exception.
We were greeted by a very friendly man, who quickly found us a table even though the restaurant was super busy. The table was exceptionally clean. The menu was a plain looking, but don't be fooled, we found so many things to try.
Spring rolls were nice and crispy served with nuoc cham. For starters, we also were excited to try the stuffed chicken wing which sounds expensive for 1 piece on the menu but if you understand the prep work behind it, you would appreciate the effort. Marinated pork mince, wood fungus, glass noodles, chives used as a stuffing, then the chicken wing is deboned and then deepfried in a light batter. Sauce was a light fishsauce mixed with a bit of soy and a bit of lemon juice? (Correct me if im wrong) it was so good! That was a great prelude and we were so ready for the appetizer. Next, to prep for the mains, we had a vegetarian vietnamese sour soup. It's tanginess mixed with sweet and chilli flavours cut through any oiliness from the deep fried starters.
Then it was the real test. Pho. Now if a viet restaurant can't do this right, then we probably wouldnt go ever again. This might include adding too much 味精 in it, or as it was dinner time, it might be a second rush batch of soup which usually tastes "thinner", or they havent given enough or used the wrong type of herbs, can't taste the cinnamon bark/star anise etc flavours... OR they use dried flat noodles rather than fresh, OR the meat quality is subpar ...anyway a million things can go wrong BUT, this restaurant's soup had a lot of flavour and body to it, everything was brilliant. It's been awhile since we both drank all the soup after eating. Completely understand due to the demographics, there wasnt a dac biet version or a bun bo hue offered on menu. Would love to try it though.
After that we had salt and pepper squid, the batter was nice, crispy, and the squid inside wasnt overcooked and chewy, stayed crispy even after adding lots of lime juice on it, very impressive!
We also was curious about the papaya salad so we ordered that too as we wanted to compare it with the thai versions. It was a good cooldown exercise after eating so much (there were only two of us), and although it's not as hot as the thai version, it still tasted great!
We are not food connoisseurs but we definitely are picky about our food and this place did not disappoint at all!!! 🙌
Operational wise, the food came in the best order possible, short wait time, and you can feel the passion for food cooked by the chefs inside!
Thank you again for such a wonderful meal, we are very grateful for your...
Read moreDelicious food, great service and friendly atmosphere! We had the rice paper rolls with grilled pork and the papaya salad with prawns as starters, and the beef pho as main dishes. Everything was very fresh and tasty (only the papaya salad would have benefitted from a more generous serving of prawns - we had three of them which were cut in halves). The crowd on a Sunday night was cheerful, the guy who served us always smiling and very attentive (for example, he put a new bottle of tap water on our table the second we finished our first one). We also liked the fact that the restaurant has a discount on cash payments rather than the ubiquitous credit card surcharge, plus they do not impose a weekend surcharge as so many other places in Sydney unfortunately do....

⭐️Spring roll - very crispy and have lots of stuffing inside, taste good; but personally prefer Chinese style spring rolls more 7.5/10
⭐️Crispy Vietnamese crepe - first time trying this dish, it’s a coconut milk pan fried crepe with minced pork, lots of bean sprouts and some beans; very crispy also but not my type of food personally 6/10
⭐️Beef pho - taste like a healthy homemade beef broth with no MSG, not very rich but it tasted great; apprepriate that the pho a lot as you can tell it’s not pre made ones; some slices of beef tasted great but not...
