The Best Thai restaurant in Sydney 🥇🏆

The Betel House in Annandale is, without a doubt, one of the best — if not the best — Thai restaurants I’ve experienced in Sydney. And I say this as someone who’s dined in almost every Thai restaurant in the city.

The setting is rustic, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff? Absolutely wonderful — genuinely attentive, kind, and efficient.

Now the food: The Massaman Beef Curry was extraordinary — rich, deep in flavour, and perfectly balanced. The Moo Ping BBQ skewers were divine, served with a vibrant salad and an addictive dipping sauce that brought everything together in perfect harmony.

The Pad See Ew- Quite honestly, the best I’ve had in Australia. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sauce was full of character, and the chicken was tender and flavourful. We also tried a chicken curry that was equally delicious, along with a bold and unapologetic beef in chili jam sauce — spicy, but beautifully paired with jasmine rice.

To top it off, the coconut smoothie transported me straight to Southeast Asia — creamy, fresh, and refreshing.

Portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the overall quality is outstanding. I’m truly very impressed. The Betel House is a hidden gem — a place I’ll be returning to often, and one I can’t...

I snuck away to Annandale, Sydney's hidden gem! This quaint, peaceful suburb is steeped in history, with stunning churches and buildings.

But, let's get real... the REAL find was the secret Thai restaurant! Another gem to add to my list!

Dinner for four was pure perfection:

Delicious dishes that left us wanting more! Amazing cocktails that hit the spot! Lovely service that made us feel like royalty!

This cosy spot has stolen my heart! High recommendation for a tranquil night out!

Lovely Thai restaurant with friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere.

Thai food in Sydney is competitive, with heaps of amazing Thai food options. You would head here for a nice restaurant experience in a calm environment. You may have friends who want to get wine. And this place fits the bill perfectly.

This place isn't cheap and cheerful. If you want the best Thai food in Sydney for $10 a dish, this isn't your place.

The reviews are great, and it's in part because the owners are so lovely and it's a sit-down restaurant in Annandale that serves dinner and alcohol without sports on the tv (that's rare!).

We've had both dine-in and takeaway (these photos are from 5pm takeaway, it's not usually this empty!)
