Old Town has to be one of my most favourite places to eat in Sydney, when I go to other dumpling houses I actually feel like I am cheating on them! But I always come back to Old Town because their staff are welcoming, have great communication skills and they remember you when you return. Apart from the wonderful service, the food is just delicious! Fresh ingredients, quick turnaround on both food and drinks and the variety of different tasty treats never disappoints.. I am a creature of habit so I have some firm favourites - The Mongolian beef comes out sizzling hot but so tender that it melts in your mouth. The chicken and veg pan fried dumplings are addictive with a dipping sauce of light soy and ginger... Sweet and sour pork is an oldie but a goodie and Old Town gives it a renewed deliciousness with fresh pineapple and crunchy vegetables in an ultra light sweet and sour sauce. The different baos always leave you wanting more and I can never go past the BBQ duck and pork combination! To finish off a great meal, there is always deep fried ice cream and the liberal toppings you can have (chocolate, caramel, strawberry) just makes my day a little brighter! Definitely highly recommended, I visit a few times a week and the lineup is worth it! Visit the Barangaroo location or Haymarket, both are just brilliant!

Old Town Hong Kong at Barangaroo has a nice location and a modern interior. The big windows and outdoor seating give it a chilled harbour side vibe, so it feels like a good place to sit down for a casual lunch. We ordered the stir fried soy noodles, claypot eggplant with minced pork, jellyfish and red bean pancake. Portions were generous and the food came out quickly. The noodles had good wok fragrance and the texture was springy rather than soggy. The jellyfish was a refreshing cold side dish. The claypot eggplant was flavourful and tender. The sauce was more on the sweet side compared to other Hong Kong style places, but still enjoyable. The red bean pancake was crispy, but the ratio of pastry to filling could be better. It leaned more pastry than red bean. Service was fine. Food came out in the correct order and we never had to wait long to get attention. Prices are higher than normal Hong Kong cafes which makes sense considering the Barangaroo location, but it means value depends on what you order. Overall, a convenient option in Barangaroo when you want quick HK dishes in a comfortable setting. Good location. Food is decent, not mind blowing.

Five People (4 adults and one 4yo kid) dined at a Friday night. I ordered some dim Sim dishes as a starter, then Peking duck, Singapore chilli crab, Hainanese chicken, fried bean with pork mince, and egg plants The Pecking duck was amazing, I ordered a whole duck for two dishes. One is wrapped crispy duck skin and succulent meat with shredded spring onion and cucumber and hausin source. The other one is duck meat fried rice. I was not expecting a Chinese restaurant in Barangaroo can have this level of authentic pecking duck at all! The Hainanese chicken was also very tender, chilli crab was also great (a bit more sour flavour as they perhaps added some pineapple in the chilli source), especially serviced with fried buns (man tou) Eggplant could be better as it a bit over cooked, so it too soft to pick them up with chopsticks. But taste spicy an yummy. Every one was fed up with those great food. Surprisingly it was not busy until 7pm ish on Friday night. And not like a tranditional Chinese restaurant kitchen, their kitchen is quite, but still so many great food can be made in thet small kitchen. I'd come back again.

I am genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed my meal here. The waiters go above and beyond to make your meal as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Dishes were changed multiples times throughout the meal and the staff were never too far away when you needed them. Nothing like holding your hand up for 10 minutes like some of the other Chinese restaurants in town. The waiters politely asked if I wanted a drink refill when my drink got empty, but didn't come across as pushy either. The food was definitely above average. Never knew I could have authentic eastern taste with top-notch western hygiene. The chicken feet was sublime, just the right about of spiciness. The pig trotters was different to what I'm used to, but still enjoyable. Can't say i've had pig trotters with a sweet and sour taste before. The roast duck was sublime. Sliced to perfection, with great crunch to the skin. The stirfried green beans (a notoriously hard dish) was cooked to perfection and you could tell it was cooked in a very hot wok from how crunchy it was. I've been to much more expensive restaurants in Sydney and abroad that regularly stuff up this dish. To get authentic Cantonese cuisine, you normally have to deal with a dirty, run-down restaurant with dirty toilets, rude staff who only speak to you, even if you talk to them in english or mandarin. Old town Hong Kong is an exception to this rule. Authentic food with top notch service in a clean and modern...
