I just had lunch here today and I can't praise the waitress enough. I have never voluntarily tipped in Australia before. She is the exception. It definitely helps that the food was delicious, and house made sodas were perfect with the ramen.

This waitress was so intuitive and observant. She is the passive-non-confrontational-introvert foodie's dream of restaurant service delivered in the form of a mild mannered, curious smile and a series of thoughtful, personalised questions about how our food actually was (and should have been) without ever having to ask the beaten-to-death, "So how was your food today?"

Hubby and I ordered 2 ramens and 2 house sodas (lunch combo). I, clearly modestly pregnant and in the throws of baby brain, forgot to ask about my egg. Without missing a beat, the waitress very subtly asked (only me) if I'd like my egg cooked through - so subtle that anybody not pregnant would have not thought twice about that question but I immediately realised my mistake, and such a thoughtful reminder by her meant I could actually eat the egg that came with my ramen! (If she hadn't have asked, I'd have just blamed myself for forgetting and lopped it into hubby's bowl🫠)

Our ramens came and we both loved the taste but thought the soup was a bit salty. And so I asked her for a cup of hot water, to which she asked "One cup? Just hot water? Is the soup too salty? Which one? Both? I can bring extra non-salted soup for both of you." Delivering 2 different bowls of soup broths corresponding to each of our ramens. We each added the extra un-salted soup to our main bowls to our tastes.

The house sodas were fantastic, refreshing, and slightly tart which cut through the rich broth of the ramen soup. Definitely recommend the ume and hani - such a subtle, sweet, fragrant drink!

I'd probably have considered rating a 4/5 stars given the ramen soup base was saltier than expected, but the service and adjustments made to cater for this more than made up for...

A beautiful, warmly lit, amazing, cosy little Japanese restaurant. What an absolute gem this place is. Everything from the ambience to the food to the service to the seating to the drinks is so well thought out and presented. Perfection!

There is a decent selection of traditional Japanese food such as ramen and tofu. The Vegorama was a beautifully constructed bowl of fresh delicious delightful yumminess! The noodles are SO FRESH and delicious and the perfect firmness and consistency. The tofu dish was incredibly light and silky and had a perfect combination of sweet and tangy and everything good.

My companions really really loved the fried chicken starter dish. It was fresh and crunchy and delicious.

There is a wide selection of drinks and they all taste great and so well presented. The Japanese Passionfruit Martini was just incredible ! One of the best drinks ever.

All the food and drinks are a pleasure for the tongue but also for the eyes. They are so artfully crafted and well presented, you are satisfied from the moment it's put down on the table.

The seating is comfortable and cosy with music playing in the background...not too loud so you can still have conversations with your companions.

The service is above and beyond. They are so friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to accomodate your requirements.

I can't fault this place for a single thing. It was such an absolute pleasure and delight to dine here. I wills definitely be back! Give this place a try with your friends or even just...

Update 09/05/23 We came back for my friend’s birthday dinner and I’m so glad we did because it was so yummy! 🤤 I ordered the vegorama and asked for less salty after remembering the owner’s helpful comment after my last review. The vegetable broth was delicious and I loved the colourful array of veggies. My favourite part was probably the sweet and slightly charred tofu skin which was so unique and surprising. We also ordered the takoyaki which came with 6 pieces and very yummy!

One of my friends really enjoyed the duck ramen which had really tender duck and quite a few veggies. She also asked for less salty. The rest of the group ordered the special ramen and they all liked it. The service was friendly and quite fast.

We booked in advance and would definitely come here again! 😊 After this visit, I’ve updated the rating to 5 stars.

March 2022 My friend and I both ordered the Torotoro special, which featured a rich tonkotsu broth, firm springy noodles and plentiful toppings including a thick cut of chashu, bamboo shoots, shallots, roasted sesame seeds, seaweed and egg. I loved how many elements the dish had and it was definitely filling. However, the broth was a bit too salty, rich and not deeply flavourful? Dishes are also on the pricier side, most likely due to the prime location.

In terms of look, the sleek interior boasts good vibes and the staff are friendly too. It’s definitely a...

The ambience was different. Music was loud so the guests spoke even louder. But quite vibrant for a Friday night. It had a young hip vibe about it. Service was friendly. Recommend booking ahead so you're not waiting in line. Even though there's this online queueing system, the estimated 35 mins wait turned into almost an hour for us. Lucky we were preoccupied with Vivid anyway. We had the kingfish which was super tasty. I would have probably liked it to have been cut a mm thinner though. The tofu was ok. I think I've had nicer batter with silkier tofu texture inside. We then had the duck ramen and the Special. I was disappointed with the duck. The meat was too chewy and the broth was slightly over powering in flavour (surprisingly this is a thing!) So wasn't tempted to drink more of it. It was differentbut nothing to write home about. The torotoro special ramen was excellent. Noodles were chewy and broth was flavourful. Classic flavours done right. Would recommend this. Lots of people complain about the portion size vs price, but realistically we all know of the barrangaroo tax so it's a non issue in my opinion. If you want cheap food, don't be expecting it in the area on general. Will be back next time (booking in advance) to try the other 2 ramen.
