One Dining is a hidden gem that delivers not just a meal, but an experience. Nestled beside the stunning Chinese Friendship Garden, we were lucky enough to be seated with a beautiful view- - watching the water dragons and carp at dusk made for the most serene and peaceful setting.
From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming. Our waitress was friendly, attentive without hovering, and made sure every detail was just right. But the true highlight was meeting Stanley, the owner, whose passion for food and history shone through. He took the time to share stories about the garden, the origins of our dishes, and even brought over a personal favourite from his hometown in Shanghai—a delicious noodle dish that felt like a gift from the heart.
We opted for the Yum Cha Set Menu, and while every dish was beautifully executed, the scallop dumpling stole the show. The xiao long bao were perfect—delicate, flavourful, and filled with rich broth—but that scallop dumpling was simply next level.
Every aspect of the evening, from the exquisite food to the tranquil setting and the warm hospitality, made this a true escape from the busy city. Thank you, One Dining, for such a special and memorable experience. We’ll...
Read moreMy wife and I ate there today. One of the scalop dumplings was cold in the middle. We ordered two pots of tea which were forgotten so had ask for them. They did remove it from our bill, though its hardly a consolation given that most Yum Cha Resturants provide tea for free. The tea was recommended as a strong tea, though it didnt look or taste strong. Quite expensive for Yum Cha as well, which is usually around the $30 mark, though Id be willing to pay $40 as it is in the gardens. They do give a discount to enter the gardens, though give how expensive the food is it should be for free. The reasons for not giving this place zero stars is:
Because I cant go lower The desert The atmosphere or the garden.
Looking at the other reviews, there does appear be an element of disorganisation which we also experienced.
Do yourself a favour; have Yum Cha somewhere in Chinatiwn and pay the full fee to enter the gardens. You'll save money and...
Read moreWe visited the Chinese Garden and decided to stay for lunch. We ordered a dish and a glass of wine each. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The service was extremely slow, and the staff seemed very disorganized. Our food took 40 minutes to arrive, and although the dishes were relatively expensive, the portions were small. The location is beautiful, but there is a significant lack of coordination among the staff.
To top it off, I ordered a coffee, which took another 20 minutes to arrive after I had finished eating. The almond milk cappuccino tasted diluted, as if water had been added to stretch it. Overall, our experience was poor. If you plan to visit, make sure you have at least two hours to spare for the restaurant. I would rate the service...
