Patagonia Sydney — Local services in Sydney

Wow. I knew that Patagonia was one of those great brands (B Corp, 1% for the planet etc.), but my visit to their shop this morning really sealed the deal. I've been looking for a rain jacket for a multi day hike I'm doing in Tasmania next week and decided to spend the bit extra on a jacket from Patagonia, because I like their values and know the stuff will likely last a bit longer. I ordered it online and got the wrong size and so decided to bring it in to their Bathurst St shop to exchange it. Sometimes when you go into a store for an exchange or a refund the staff don't want to have anything to do with you, but the guy working there this morning (25/11/20) couldn't have been more helpful and gave me the kind of friendly, helpful service that will make me a life long customer. They were out of the same colour and so ended up express shipping the jacket from their Manly store to me so as to get it to me in time for my hike. We are obsessed with Patagonia, and were excited to go to a store (we live in Canberra and buy everything online) - service was absolutely terrible except for one guy on the top floor who helped us find sizes (after we asked). We went to the ground floor for more sports clothing and the person on that floor (young tall gentleman) didn’t even acknowledge us, we spent a few minutes there looking “lost” and he did not even look at us once, as if he was trying to ignore us. We knew what we wanted but left the store empty handed because of the service, better buy everything online. The products are great and we love the quality of the items.

Staff service is inconsistent at this particular store. Charley and Tom were great to speak to and very helpful. The lady with European accent and short hair was not (I think her name was Valeria). I noticed her being mentioned in many other reviews. She was rude and curt, unhelpful to other customers in the store (telling them this item doesn’t come in a XL size…questionable) and clearly didn’t want to help us.
