This morning, I see a sign for a $3 coffee everyday, so I decided to try it for the first time here. I usually observe how things work and how my food or drink is made when I go places. It's a bit of a professional quirk but I really enjoy it. Today, I ordered my coffee as usual and watched the process from start to finish. It was a very quiet place and there didn't seem to be an owner around. Two people were working, one making the coffee and the other taking orders. There were two customers at each corner. Anyway here is where it gets interesting. As soon as my order was taken, the person taking my order approached the coffee machine and covered it up with other one who was making coffee so that I couldn't see. They whispered something and, believe it or not, my coffee was ready in less than 10 seconds. Even if they covered my eyes, they couldn't block out the sound. You know what I mean, right? And If you love coffee and have experience making it, you can gauge the quality just by the sound of it. Surprisingly, they didn't use a coffee grinder, and they didn't even brew a fresh batch of coffee. They only used steam to make the coffee. And, astonishingly, about two-thirds of the cup was milk foam. Now you can imagine how my coffee was prepared? I won't take up more of your time by going into detail. But let me just say this to the owner: Don't cut corners when selling $3 coffee. Think about it—people are being employed, electricity and water etc are being used, how much does that cost? You are doing it to make money. If that $3 coffee was good enough or positive, I might think and want to try other items too. And if I have another positive experience from that try, I will become regular customers. It means that you made $3 today from me but you lost $1000 potentially. And am I the only case? I don’t believe so. Usually, when giving advice, especially regarding food and beverages, I would say don't do it unless you're personally involved. It's different if you have a lot of money but your website doesn't exactly give the impression of a lot of funds. Are you only into alcohol? Don't you serve food? Come on, you do food as well, but where's the menu for food? Don’t tell me that menu is in Instagram and before I even think about checking your Instagram, I wouldn't even want to visit your website. I have so much more to say but I'll stop here. You should be thankful for someone like me who is telling you all this. I hope it...

Read moreA hidden gem in the heart of Barangaroo! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and live sax every evening 🎷 I can’t wait for summer to enjoy an aperitivo on their alfresco area! Their interiors are gorgeous, think black & white tiles and floor-to-ceiling timber wrapping around the back walls of their wine display… perfect spot for a business lunch, after-work drinks with friends or date night. Not to mention the cherry on top: a beautifully appointed private dining room that exudes equal parts opulence and intimate charm.
Their entire breakfast menu is under $15 (!!) and more creative & stylishly served up than most CBD venues. Plus $3 takeaway coffee in the morning and literally right at the foot of the escalators down from the Wynyard Walk/Sussex St bridge – so convenient.
Food, drinks & service both suit the chic, lobby bar vibes. You can tell how much passion their bar manager puts into the cocktails – recommend ‘The Beauty’ & ‘The Beast’, twist on a classic if you’re into martinis🍸 Dinner menu is the standout, with high-quality produce the feature of their Euro-inspired, made-to-share plates. Don’t skip the ricotta zucchini flowers with truffle honey!
To top it off, the lunch/dinner specials feel just as criminal as their takeaway coffee/breakfast prices – $20 pasta every day (and $10 glass of wine if you want to indulge) plus ‘Steak & Whiskey’ night every Tuesday ($20 eye fillet if you order one of their whiskies!)… I mean, talk about bougie on a budget.
Couldn’t recommend SAX more, a must-try that delivers...
