I went here one Sunday with my friend for a roast. We ordered and waited patiently for our food. After 30 minutes we began to get restless, as other people in the establishment said that they had received their roast after 15 minutes.
Nevertheless, we continued to wait until we noticed that tables who had ordered after us were now getting their meals. At this point, I went up to the order window to ask how much longer the roasts would be. The lady there went to the kitchen to ask and then proceeded to tell us that our order docket had been lost. All the roasts were also now sold out.
There was no apology nor did anyone seem to care. She said that we could get a refund but obviously we were now starving so we wanted to order other meals. We thought that we may get these on the house due to the major inconvenience but we were told either we get a refund or we get a meal.
We both proceeded to order well done steak. After a while, a waitress brought down garlic bread to the table as the wait for the “well done” steak would be that bit longer. Unfortunately, as you can see from the image attached, the steak was not even well done.
Overall, my experience in South End was wholly negative in all respects and I have since heard that similar has happened to other people which has only solidified my decision not to...

Friendliness: Checkin was fast and easy. Friebdly bar, staff, restaurant and hotel staff.
x-factor; Wednesday night ( every two weeks) an irish band comes in and sings Irish songs, adding to the lively and warm 'irish mood'🙂. Ambience of pub decor is quite dark, ( see photos) reminds me of an older styled pub.
Service; Great service - I checked in late, and was given a friendly take your time, late checkout of 11am. bar staff downstairs happy to help at all times.
Value for money; OK value $143.00 online booking com. I had a standard room with a balcony ( room 9) right at the top of the stairs. Quiet hotel, I slept well, comfy bed. Standard room; beware, you need to walk up a flight of stairs ( not sure about wheelchair access, as there were no lifts that i saw). I dined in the restaurant, good meal priced around $15.00 to $ 35.00, good place for children to come and eat as well. Desserts; My friend ordered blackberry pie with icecream👌🏽
Cleanliness; The standard room was clean on arrival. Room had one double bed and two single beds. There was a bar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, plenty of tea, coffee, milk, toiletries, soap etc.
Will be back! comfy rooms, friendly staff, great local...
Read moreWas better when it was the Sands. The renovation is a bit 🤷♂️ for the clientele They've updated the facade and removed all the old portholes but inside its like someone turned out all the lights Turned a good popular Aussie pub into a dark dingy and empty Irish bar that's clearly not aimed at the locals Only seems to have irish hipster beer on tap these days and a schooner costs a pretty penny There is a kids corner where unsupervised children run wild while their parents get loaded or play pokies all day The bistro is quite good, standard pub fare at a reasonable price if you dont mind waiting(even if you are the only person in the whole pub) Theres a boutique kind of bottleshop there that seems to focus mainly on wine Fairly good sized tab area but only has an automated ticket vending machine and no TAB staff The poker machine room is ok until someone lights a cigarette, then its absolutely horrible and just fills with smoke that seems to have nowhere to go and no gsming attendant, just a change/redemption machine. The staff are helpful and friendly and there's plenty of parking and...
